Job Title: Financial Accountant (CONTRACT)
Primary objective of the job:
The Financial Accountant would be responsible for the management of the accounts for Digicel Foundation
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Booking month-end entries to support the preparation of monthly management accounts in a timely and accurate manner for review
- Booking month-end entries to assist in the preparation of management accounts for month/ year end purposes in line with accounting standards and reporting deadlines
- Ensure timely completion of month end file and strict adherence to month end timetables and processes
- Support CEO when required with ad-hoc reports, reporting to Board of Directors and Group
- Assist in the presentation of monthly board material, Expense analysis and comparison of performance against budget
- Preparation, reconciliation and analysis of assigned monthly schedules/reports
- Ensure the development and ongoing existence of strong internal controls, and compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
- Review and monitor the underlying controls/ sub-system interface to ensure accuracy in balances shown in the general ledger
- Prepare Journals with adequate supporting information
- Work with all areas to ensure information is submitted in a timely manner
- Review budgets vs actuals with area owners and ensure any risk identified are mitigated with action plans
- Assist in the preparation of data for Ad-hoc Management
- Assist with the internal and external audit requirements
- Completion of the month-end routines within the required reporting period
- Provide back-up support for other team members
- Perform any other tasks that may periodically be assigned by the CEO
Academic Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Minimum ACCA level 2 or Equivalent
- 2 to 5 years’ relevant experience
- Experience using Great Plains or any accounting system would be considered an asset.
- Advanced Excel/ Modelling skills
