The Finance and Accounting Officer is responsible for providing financial accounting information to support the general accounting requirements of Studley Park Enterprise Limited internally and externally.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Finance and Accounting Officer is responsible for providing financial accounting information to support the general accounting requirements of Studley Park Enterprise Limited internally and externally. As such, the officeholder is required to assist with the implementation, review, and propose control procedures and policies, to review the fixed asset register, bank reconciliations, calculate PAYE, Vat, Business Levy and Corporation Tax. The incumbent is also required to prepare financials for Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statements, monitors credit control, collections, reviews the inventory system and material costing and departmental expense reports.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Prepare and finalize periodic financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, budgets, and cash flows.
- Prepare Monthly Variance Analysis and Commentaries to assist with Executive’s Decision Making.
- Prepare schedules and documents as requested by the Enterprise’s External Auditors.
- Prepare monthly financials for the Board of Directors to track financial performance against the budget allocation.
- Maintain and update the general ledger accounting system and all related accounts with the Agency’s monthly operating revenues and expenditures.
- Assist in preparing, reviewing, and presenting the annual budget to the Board of Directors for approval.
- Assist in analyzing financial performance and contribute to the medium/long term business performance.
- Development and Implementation of Costing Systems for the crushing/processing plants, laboratory and Jetty.
- Interpret and communicate financial data to non-financial Managers.
- Provide accounting support to the management regarding Capital Projects.
- Prepare cash forecasts and manage the Enterprise’s working capital.
- Prepare and Review the Company’s payroll.
- Review Receivables and Payables Reconciliation
- Review Invoices and Payments
- Assist in any other general-related duties as may be directed.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Government policies, rules, regulations, and procedures for directing and operations of state agencies.
- Accounting principles, practices, and techniques.
- Accounting software and applications.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Planning, managerial and organizing skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Good critical and analytical skills.
- Good report writing skills.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Suite and other Accounting Software.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
- Holder of Professional Accounting qualification: BSc Accounting; ACCA affiliate qualified or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Post graduate qualifications in Business Administration or a related discipline would be an asset.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience in Accounting/Financial Planning at a supervisory level.
- Experience in a state-owned Agency would be an asset.
- Must be proficient in the use of SAGE 50 (Peachtree).
