The Finance Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of financial management, inclusive of: • Corporate accounting, • Regulatory and financial reporting, • Budget and forecast preparation • Development of internal control policies and procedures.

Job Title: Finance Manager

Reports to: Managing Director

Direct Reports: Senior Accountant,  Accounts Payable Clerk, Accounts Receivable Clerk, Inventory Assistant.

Job Summary:

The Finance Manager ensures that financial processes run smoothly and comply with local and international standards, while contributing to the overall financial health and strategy of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting

  • Ensure accurate and reliable financial statements preparation on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Produce financial reports which provide timely financial analysis and insights to senior management team decision making.

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Lead and coordinate the annual budget process.
  • Develop financial forecast and perform variance analysis.

Cashflow Management

  • Optimise working capital by managing accounts receivable, accounts payable and inventory levels.
  • Develop and maintain cashflow projections.
  • Manage capital funding when needed.

Cost Management

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement initiatives.
  • Track and manage operating expenses, ensuring that they align with budgetary constraints.

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Establish and maintain a robust internal control environment implementing financial policies and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Coordinate and oversee external audits, ensuring timely completion and accurate reporting.
  • Ensure tax compliance and the preparation of tax returns.

Financial Strategy and Planning

  • Collaborate with senior management to develop financial strategies that align with the company’s long-term business goals.
  • Provide financial support for business development activities, including mergers, acquisitions, and expansions.

Team Leadership

  • Manage the finance and accounting team, providing leadership, training, and development opportunities.
  • Delegate tasks, set performance goals, and ensure timely completion of financial projects.

System Improvement              

  • Continuously evaluate business process with financial impacts and improve for efficiency and accuracy when needed.

Risk Management

  • Identify and mitigate financial risks as it pertains to the company’s assets.
  • Ensuring adequate insurance coverage and risk management practises’

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the company’s liaison for external stakeholders e.g. banks, auditors and regulatory bodies.
  • Provide and Present financial reports to the board of directors and senior management.

Perform any ad hoc projects or related duties assigned by the MD.

 

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting or Finance, ACCA or CMA.
  • Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business will be considered an asset.

 

 Experience:

  • 10 years’ experience in managing Finance, Accounting, and Auditing responsibilities preferably within a Retail and Distribution industry.
  • At least 5 years of Supervisory experience
  • At least 2 years’ experience in partnering with an Executive Team.

  Skills:

  • Strong Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and other financial regulations.
  • Easily adaptable to financial and accounting software or ERPs.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision- making skills.
  • Strategic thinker with a focus on business growth and development.
  • Collaborative and team oriented with strong work ethic.
  • Ability to lead and inspire team members to achieve high levels of performance and productivity.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
