A yacht charter company operating in the Caribbean is seeking a skilled and reliable Marine Engineer to join its team. This position involves ensuring the technical and mechanical integrity of a small fleet of high-end charter yachts (under 60 ft.) operating along the Jamaican coastline.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and maintenance on engines, generators, A/C units, water systems, and electrical components.
• Respond to mechanical or system failures swiftly to ensure minimal downtime during charters.
• Maintain and update service logs, maintenance schedules, and inventory of spare parts and tools.
• Collaborate with the Captain and crew to support onboard operations, including docking and guest services when needed.
• Ensure vessel systems comply with maritime regulations and safety protocols.
• Recommend and oversee minor repairs, upgrades, or third-party servicing as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Diploma or Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent technical certification).
• STCW Basic Safety Training Certificate (mandatory).
• Small Vessel Engineer Certification or MCA AEC 1 & 2 preferred.
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a marine engineer on yachts under 60 ft., ideally in the Caribbean.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, marine electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and onboard electronics.
• ENG1 (or equivalent) valid seafarer medical certificate.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with a calm and proactive attitude.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with both crew and shore-based teams.
