The Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring that products are produced to meet quality standards, production schedules, and cost objectives.
The Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring the Engineering department maximizes the Plant’s uptime by overseeing simultaneous projects, managing a diverse team of engineers responsible for the proper maintenance and repair of all equipment and machinery, strategic planning, team development, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
Job Responsibilities:
Leadership:
- Work as a part of the senior management team to develop and refine long/medium-term strategic and operational plans for the company
- Lead and mentor engineering teams, promoting professional growth and collaboration. Develop progression and succession plans for the Engineering dept's key positions
- Establish performance standards, key performance indicators and conduct performance assessments for direct reports, all in accordance with organizational/strategic objectives.
- Develop annual/monthly production schedule and report on actual production output.
- Manage effectively and efficiently the engineering department so that strategies may be implemented to rectify any identified deficiencies.
Project Management:
- Oversee engineering project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful delivery.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project goals and requirements.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process enhancements to increase efficiency.
- Implement and promote agile methodologies and best practices.
- Provide fact-based analytical information to support production initiatives and contribute to the business planning and evaluation process.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Strategic Planning:
- Work closely with senior management, design, and other departments to align engineering efforts with business objectives.
- Facilitate effective communication between teams to ensure alignment and transparency.
- Contribute to the technical vision and strategy of the engineering department & assess and integrate new technologies and tools to improve engineering capabilities.
Health and Safety:
- Minimize and mitigate the risk of injury to employees, through ensuring the implementation and consistent adherence and enforcement of the Company’s / Department’s safety policies and procedures and fostering a work environment that prioritizes safety.
Qualification and Experience Requirements:
- MSc in Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline.
- At least twelve (12) years’ experience in manufacturing engineering, with a minimum of five (5) in a managerial role.
- Prior experience leading a team of multi-disciplined Engineers both in Capital Projects & operational plant maintenance
- Proficiency in ACAD/SolidWorks and MS Projects
- Knowledge of glass manufacturing processes, machinery and equipment.
- Competency in all areas of Plant Operations inclusive but not limited to Utilities, Process operations, Packaging, Batch operations
- Working knowledge of DCS and/or SCADA systems
- Intimate exposure to Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), its application and uses for analyzing and improving Maintenance management performance and plant reliability
- Possesses strong project management skills
