Delegated to perform civil/structural engineering designs, engineering design review and construction site supervision for the implementation of capital improvement projects and the performance of other engineering assignments.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent will be required to:
1. Assist in the development and implementation of capital improvement projects.
2. Involve in executing feasibility studies to determine viability of projects, which will include: the conduct of engineering studies and engineering analyses, evaluate alternatives, propose recommendations, prepare reports, and deliver presentations to key stakeholders.
3. Assist in stakeholder management; liaising with stakeholders for the duration and handover of projects.
4. Prepare capital improvement project plans.
5. Prepare preliminary and final designs for buildings, roadways, drainage, grading, water, wastewater, and solid waste/recycling projects using modern technologies and good engineering practices.
6. Undertake reviews of designs and construction drawings (civil/structural) completed by external consultants.
7. Monitor site preparation, foundation laying and other phases of projects during construction stage to completion.
8. Assist in conducting economic, life cycle, and sensitivity analysis of alternatives and designs.
9. Provide project management services by monitoring of schedules, project costs and budgets on the basis of departmental goals and objectives.
10. Assist in preparing and maintaining RFI logs, Change Request logs, Site Instructions and Engineer’s Instructions log.
11. Prepare status and engineering reports (both internal and external), budgets, contract documents/cost estimates and assist in the preparation of tender evaluation documents.
12. Assist in monitoring the performance of contractors and consultants.
13. Ensure conformity with technical specifications, bill of quantities and construction as projects progress.
14. Ensure that all statutory and regulatory approvals are granted for the construction and completion of projects.
15. Evaluate construction work and recommends payment to contractors.
16. Review and comment on submitted as-built drawings
17. Ensure adherence to quality control and Health Safety and Environment performance.
18. Comply fully with the Company’s policies and procedures, and adheres to the Company’s Core Values and Charter of Business Ethics by daily demonstration of associated behavior.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1. BSc. in Civil Engineering or related field from a recognized University.
2. Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Engineering Design and Site Supervision of Engineering and Construction Projects.
Or any other equivalent combination of qualification and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
2. Computer Literate with knowledge of Microsoft Project and AutoCAD Knowledge of modern building and construction techniques
3. Proficiency in REVIT or other BIM software would be an asset
4. Technical Report Writing Skills.
5. Supervisory Skills will be an asset
6. Ability to locate problems and find solutions to them quickly and accurately.
7. High level of integrity
8. OSHA or any HSE Certification would be an asset
