Position Summary

The Employee Relations Specialist plays a pivotal role in maintaining a positive work environment by managing employee relations issues, resolving conflicts, and ensuring adherence to company policies and legal standards. This position involves conducting investigations, providing guidance to employees and management, and contributing to the development of HR strategies.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with management to develop, review and update employee policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with legal requirements and organizational goals.
  • Address employee disputes through careful investigations, facilitated discussions, and the implementation of solutions to promote a peaceful work environment.
  • Investigate employee concerns and misconduct fairly, confidentially documenting findings to ensure compliance.
  • Stay current with employment laws and regulations, ensuring the practices of the company align with any changes made in legislation and proactively implement policies to address any potential compliance issues.
  • Educate employees on HR policies and procedures through workshop or other means, to bolster knowledge and adherence to same.
  • Proactively foster employee morale, satisfaction, and engagement through targeted initiatives in an effort to actively cultivate employee well-being, fulfillment, and commitment.
  • Handling investigations, disciplinary hearings and other disciplinary processes.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of performance management processes, including feedback mechanisms and improvement plans to enhance employee performance.
  • Meticulously maintain accurate and complete records of employee relations activities, ensuring compliance with legal and company policy requirements.
  • Conduct exit interviews to gather insights into employee reasons for parting with the company, identify trends and areas for improvement within the organization.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to both employees and management, balancing the interests of all parties while maintaining the organization’s values and objectives.
  • Proactively identify areas of opportunities in employee relations processes and contribute to the development of strategies to enhance overall employee satisfaction and retention.
Qualifications, Experience and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration or HR strongly desired 
  • 3+ years’ experience in HR
  • Certificate in Industrial Relations is a plus
  • Be knowledgeable of HRIS
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a high paced environment, handling numerous tasks simultaneously
  • Must have a keen eye for detail to achieve high quality results
  • Possess strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a team and collaborate with others to achieve the goal
  • Must be able to build and maintain positive partnership with other departments and stakeholders
  • Ability to use MS Suite at the advanced level (Excel/Work/PP)
