We are seeking an Electrical and Instrument Technician to join our Maintenance team within our Manufacturing Department, to carry-out maintenance of equipment and infrastructure at our Kingston plant. The role involves accurate application of knowledge and experience to accomplish goals and objectives in Corrective and Preventative Maintenance in full and on time, while adhering to all Health and Safety Requirements and Good Manufacturing Practices.
What We Want From You….
The incumbent will be performing the following activities:
- Ensure timely and accurate intervention for all Electrical and Instrument maintenance activities
- Repair and maintain plant equipment to ensure optimum performance and efficiency
- Inspect the production line during operation, check its functioning, highlight, and report on improvements and programmable interventions in order to define a firm line of work plan
- Maintain, troubleshoot and modify (where authorized) equipment and infrastructure
- Evaluate Electrical and Instrument systems and applications for any improvements that may be necessary to improve on plant wellness
- Assist with the daily management systems for production equipment to include Daily Direction Setting, Daily Production Review, Equipment Centerlining, breakdown elimination, Equipment base Conditioning, Autonomous Maintenance (AM), Clean Inspect Lubricate and Tighten (CILT), Predictive Maintenance (PM), Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and other key tools/activities
- Assist with Electrical and Instrument installation and commissioning of new equipment ensuring that installation and operations conform to the required technical standards
- Prepare specifications and parts lists for equipment and requisitions parts/services for repairs and maintenance of equipment
- Collect, analyse data and prepare reports on electrical breakdowns as needed
- Assist with technical training of other technicians/team members within Supply Chain
- Make recommendations on process improvement for efficient and effective functioning of equipment
What Academic Achievements, Competencies and Track-Record You Will Bring.…
- First degree in Electrical Engineering/Instrumentation Engineering
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience
- Training in the use of PLC software eg. RS Logix, FactoryTalk
- Innovative problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis
- Knowledge of plant equipment such as air compressors, rinsers, fillers, cappers, labelers, coders, pumps, drive system, conveyor systems, generators
- Knowledge of electrical systems such as motors, starters, integrated circuits, solid state electronics, electrical distribution system
- Working knowledge of computer-assisted engineering software (AutoCAD)
- Knowledge of Allen-Bradley and other Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems
- Ability to concentrate and focus on details
- Customer focus and team working skills
- Good judgement and decision-making skills
- Proactive, with the ability to work on own initiative and cope well under pressure
- Good planning, organizing and time management skills
- Knowledge of general plant health and safety policies and procedures
- Working knowledge of MS Office and Maintenance Management Software
