Education Aide

Seeking a compassionate Educational Aide to support a child with autism, ADHD, and language processing disorder in a classroom. Responsibilities include one-on-one assistance.

Summary:

The Educational Aide will provide support to a child on the spectrum with ADHD and language processing disorder in the classroom setting. The aide will work closely with the classroom teacher to implement the child's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and to help the child succeed academically and socially.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to the child on academic subjects, such as reading, writing, and math.
• Help the child to stay on task and to complete assignments.
• Break down tasks into smaller steps and provide visual cues to help the child understand what is expected.
• Provide emotional support to the child and help them to develop coping skills for dealing with challenges.
• Work with the classroom teacher to create a positive and supportive learning environment for the child.
• Communicate with the child's parents about their progress and any challenges they are facing.

Qualifications:

• 5 CXC passes or equivalent 
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience working with children with special needs will be an asset
