Jamaica Flour Mills Limited has an opening for a Environmental Health & Safety Technician contractor who would be responsible for providing support for the environmental, health and general safety activities on the plant and its environs.

Jamaica Flour Mills Limited has an opening for a Environmental Health & Safety Technician contractor who would be responsible for providing support for the environmental, health and general safety activities on the plant and its environs.

 Requirements and Responsibilities

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years’ related experience in a food manufacturing entity.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and Power Point).
  • Working knowledge of plant operations as it relates to milling and general process operations.
  • Knowledge of the use and safe handling of chemicals and fumigants.
  •  Familiarity with safety apparatus and equipment used within the milling and like industries.
  • Experience in conducting and coordinating the training of workers and visitors concerning general safety rules and regulations, which may include but is not limited to the use of safety equipment, devices, clothing and first aid.
  • Familiarity with conducting tests for air quality, noise, or temperature to verify compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to devise, monitor and implement safety or industrial health programs in conjunction with the Environmental, Health & Safety Coordinator to prevent, correct, or control unsafe environmental conditions.
  • Conducts inspections of facility, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Assists with the coordination of external and internal audits.
  • Support the implementation of  various EHS programmes.

This position will require standing and walking for prolonged periods, climbing stairs and ladders, working at heights, working within a hot and dusty environment with constant exposure to manufacturing areas.
