JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Drilling & Completion Engineer | Department: Drilling |
JOB SUMMARY:
To provide engineering, operations, regulatory and overall management input for all exploration and development and exploration well work. All work to be conducted in a safe, effective, legal, and environmentally responsible manner.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Ensure full understanding and compliance with ALL company and legislative Corporate, Directorate and Departmental QHSE policies and procedures.
2. Develops specific well plans in close collaboration with the operations engineering and production teams
3. Provides all Drilling & Completions’ input during the planning and execution phase of the project.
4. Identifies and evaluates offset wells. Conducts internal well design reviews and risk assessments for assigned wells. Develops well designs and drilling programs. Documents all well design changes using the MOC process.
4. Provides technical support on daily drilling operations and is the primary contact for field engineering issues. Monitors daily morning report, and facilitates data. Error corrections and coding.
5. Provides full time engineering support to assigned drilling rig(s). Provides internal and external of well reports. Coordinates and communicates end of well reviews.
6. Provide engineering and technical support for all drilling and completion operations , including open hole completions, liner completions, and perforated casing completions being done by third party contractors.
6. Manage operational and HSE performance of assigned contracts. Responsible for preparing tenders, analyzing vendor response, awarding contracts, and administering assigned contracts. Assists with timely procurement of material, equipment and personnel. Reviews and approves invoices for accuracy.
7. Provides relief for Drilling Supervisor, as required, during their absence.
8. Support and train new engineers as required to achieve Company objectives.
9. Conduct frequent visits to the rig sites to monitor and support critical drilling operations. Support the drilling supervisor in any way possible to achieve a successful operation and oversee third party contractors and third party drilling operations
10. Any other duties as directed by the Drilling Superintendent.
JOB SPECIFICATION
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND TRAINING
• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical, Chemical or Petroleum Engineering
• Good knowledge of preparation of technical reports
• IWCF Drilling Well Control
CORE COMPETENCIES
• In-depth knowledge of fundamental drilling engineering and theory including: casing design, drill string design, drilling fluids, trajectory design, drilling optimization & surveying.
• Sound understanding of Well Control methods (including underlying theory) with the capacity to provide engineering support during critical well control events.
• In-depth understanding and experience of tools and techniques to manage personal and process safety with the capability to provide engineering support during HSE incident investigations.
• Track record of managing Drilling Engineering studies related to performance improvement and the trial of new technology.
• Innovative with the ability to challenge conventional methods and capacity to drive through new initiatives.
EXPERIENCE
• At least five (5) years’ experience is preferable
