We are looking for a driven and talented leader who shares our values to join our team as Divisional Financial Controller. Reporting to the Divisional Chief Executive Officer, with dotted line management of the Finance teams, the Divisional Financial Controller will be an integral part of the Divisional Management Team and will have oversight of the financial operations in eight companies located in Barbados, Jamaica, Dominican Republic and Ecuador.
THE ROLE:
The Divisional Financial Controller’s responsibilities are:
- To compile monthly financial reports/accounts for all companies within GMHCL. To complete the consolidation of the monthly financial statements and produce a timely and accurate Divisional Financial Reports by the required date each month.
- To investigate variances in the GMHCL group company actual results vs. Budget, discuss with local management, and determine the corrective action.
- To ensure that all group companies are reporting in accordance with the group requirements and are submitting the required reports each month and on a timely basis.
- To instruct and assist as necessary, the business Managers and Finance Leads as to the proper completion of all GEL and Group reports. These reports include but are not limited to the Annual Budget Pack, the Half Year Review Reports, the Year-End Consolidation Pack, and the Statutory Obligations Report.
- To ensure all group companies are familiar and are adhering to the GEL Financial Policies & best practices.
- To visit GMHCL companies and audit internal controls of the company and ensure that local Managers and Financial Controllers are adhering to IFRS, local GAAP, and the GEL Financial Policies & best practices.
- To lead the audit process and ensure that group companies are ready for the audit process and review of the year-end consolidation packs to ensure their accurate and timely submission.
- To provide Divisional consolidated financial statements at year end with supporting schedules for auditors.
- To lead the annual budget process and ensure that group companies submit their budgets in a timely and accurate manner.
- To analyze and provide feedback to the Operations and Finance teams regarding any improvement opportunity.
- To communicate with the Division’s bankers and provide information as required to support facilities extended.
- To partner with Management to prepare and develop long and short-term strategic plans for the Division.
- To ensure that the Finance teams are adequately resourced.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- ACCA, CGA or CPA qualified with at least five (5) years’ experience in a similar role.
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a similar field.
- Proven experience in Finance Management with strong technical knowledge and with a focus on streamlining accounting processes.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, accounting and regulatory standards.
- Experience in a computerized accounting environment.
- Previous experience in manufacturing would be an asset.
- Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and build successful teams.
- Experience in budgeting, preparation of financial statements and management accounting.
- Experience utilizing performance management to drive performance to achieve business goals.
- Advanced knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
