Unicomer (Barbados) Limited seeks an experienced Director of Logistics and Loss Prevention to lead strategic and operational management of last-mile deliveries for stores, residential, and B2B orders. The role supports growth strategies and sales initiatives.

The Director also plays a critical role in development of long-term logistics strategies, enhancing infrastructure, managing partnerships, and ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team reporting directly to the Managing Director, he/she directs the Warehousing, Inbound and Outbound Logistics, Project Management, Property Management and Loss Prevention functions of the business.

 THE ROLE

The Director of Logistics and Loss Prevention will:

•   Develop and implement comprehensive logistics strategies aligned with the company’s commercial objectives, ensuring cost-effective and timely delivery to stores and customers. 

•   Develop and lead last-mile delivery and order fulfilment for all stores, residential customers and B2B clients, maintaining acceptable DIFOT (Delivered In Full On Time) levels and  ensuring customer satisfaction with the delivery experience.

•   Build strong relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, ports, 3PL providers, and carriers to ensure effective clearance of inventory and management of demurrage.

•   Optimise logistics operations through process improvements including new technology adoption, process automation, and improving visibility of shipments via industry-standard Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Order Management Systems (OMS) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to improve logistics efficiency and reporting.

•   Effectively analyse and respond to forecast merchandise delivery capacity requirements in alignment with evolving commercial imperatives and seasonal demand.

•   Oversee all aspects of fleet management to ensure a ‘white glove’ standard of service delivery including staffing and training, delivery routing and scheduling, material handling equipment and maintenance through a balanced evaluation of financial, quality, functionality, safety, and service elements.

•   Lead resolution of logistics challenges and develop contingency plans to mitigate potential risks, ensuring minimal disruptions and business continuity.

•   Provide oversight of loss prevention strategies for stock and property assets to ensure inventory accuracy, compliance with the control environment and health and safety policies, to minimise asset shrinkage and improve profitability.

•   Support infrastructure related and other special projects with loss prevention expertise, ensuring safety and asset protection plans are executed effectively.

•   Develop and manage budgets, P&L, CapEx and RFPs.

•   Foster a culture of positive cross-functional collaboration with Store Operations, Customer Experience, IT, Merchandising and Marketing teams to deliver remarkable customer service and strong financial performance.

•   Ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards across the business to maintain a safe environment for staff and customers.

 

THE CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will possess:

•   Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related discipline; a Post graduate degree (MBA or Master’s in Supply Chain Logistics) is highly preferred.

•   A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a senior management role in a medium to large retail/commercial operation with significant strength in warehousing, distribution and facility operations. Experience in project management would be an asset.

•   Experience in driving successful loss prevention, shortage control, health and safety and fraud prevention programmes.

•   Strong understanding of trade regulations, customs compliance, and global freight management.

•   Sound understanding of international trade,  transportation, and Supply Chain Management practices and procedures.

•   Working knowledge of project planning and execution.

•   Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Project, Visio), with advanced Excel expertise (Pivot Tables, V-Lookups, Formulas & Functions).

•   Extensive experience with ERP systems and logistics tools including Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS) or other supply chain management systems.

•   Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.

•   Strong leadership skills, demonstrating high emotional intelligence with the ability to inspire teams.

•   The ability to manage complex projects, prioritize tasks, and ensure the highest standards of operational excellence and results-orientation.
