  • Establish internal controls for the movement of stock in and out of the company’s warehouse facilities and consistently monitor for effectiveness and compliance, while seeking to continuously improve.
  • Update and implement policies and procedures to safeguard against stock losses.
  • Partner with IT and the Buying function to improve on the accuracy of stock information that is made available to branches and the Distribution Centre team.
  • Investigate and determine causes of exceptional shortages/losses or out of stock issues at the Distribution Centre’s warehouses and identify and take corrective measures.
  • Organize regular stock counts in line with the requirements of the Internal Audit function and with best practice.
  • Ensure compliance with proper stacking, storing and manual handling procedures in an effort to minimize damages.
  • Ensure that adequate material handling equipment is used in all areas. Ensure the proper functioning of the material handling equipment and procure appropriate preventive maintenance.
  • Manage customer feedback to ensure that delivery standards are aligned with customer expectations and the standards of the Courts Consumer Charter.
  • Partner with Branches to improve the efficiency of deliveries to branches and to customers (including deliveries to customers made out of the Branches) while ensuring a timely response to their needs.
  • Monitor volume of deliveries and re-allocate responsibilities and tasks in an effort to achieve delivery volumes/targets.
  • Manage distribution costs to ensure these are in line with budget and agreed industry standards.
  • Access and analyse delivery data to identify areas of inefficiency and noncompliance and take appropriate corrective measures.
  • Develop performance measures for Warehousing/Logistics staff including delivery contractors.
  • Agree objectives, targets, standards and areas of responsibilities with Warehousing and Logistics staff and monitor their progress and performance against these.
  • Implement a system of coaching and feedback to ensure that staff are given appropriate guidance towards the improvement of their performance and are motivated towards the achievement of targets and standards.
