Locations: Kingston Public Hospital and Spanish Town Hospital

 

Karleen Smith and Company Limited is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Dietitian to join our team. The Dietitian will play a crucial role in supporting the development and implementation of dietary plans for our hospital lunch rooms and patient meals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nutrition, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the culinary team to create menus that are nutritionally balanced, appealing, and meet the dietary guidelines
  • Support the planning and preparation of specialized menus for patients with allergies, food intolerances, or other dietary restrictions
  • Assist in the management of food allergies and sensitivities, ensuring proper labelling and prevention of cross-contamination
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and developments in the field of nutrition and dietary science
  • Collaborate with the catering team to ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Assist in the training and supervision of kitchen staff on proper food handling and nutritional guidelines
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and dietitians, to provide comprehensive nutritional care to patients

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) certification or eligibility for registration
  • Valid Food Handler’s Permit
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or food service setting preferred
  • Strong knowledge of nutrition principles, dietary guidelines, and medical nutrition therapy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex nutritional information to diverse audiences
  • Proficiency in nutritional analysis software and tools
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations
