Design Support Officer

Job Purpose

Total Office is looking for a person to be responsible for providing continuing technical and design support, prepare quotes, office layouts and renders for customers of Total Office Jamaica- architects, designers and end users.

 The primary duties of the job include:

  • Learning the range offered by each furniture brands portfolio of products.
  • Learning the strengths and weaknesses of each furniture brands portfolio of products with particular emphasis on warranty info, design, delivery dates, and cost.
  • Providing quotes, spec sheets, product info, and environmental info for tenders utilizing the new furniture brands.
  • Presenting new products / tenders to clients where needed.
  • Use of advanced 3-D rendering software where available to render office environments taking into consideration structural walls, ceilings, power and data layouts.
  • Building - in the rendering software – workstations, offices, chairs, taking account of fabric and hard surface finishes (consistent with availability in the new supplier ranges) and other design elements.
  • Assisting in the preparation of and submitting tenders using existing specification sheets as templates.
  • Preparation of quotes using word documents and the rendering software.
  • Learning and organizing finishes from various suppliers – maintaining a finishes and brochure library.

 Additional Duties

  • Candidate will be called upon occasionally to do additional duties consistent with a small office including but not limited to admin and or accounting duties.
  • Supporting the General Manager
  • Overseeing installation
  • Social media ideas and submissions. 

 Desirable attributes

  • Certificate in AutoCAD - Level 1 or 2.
  • Knowledge of sketch up, or other design software is a plus but not a necessity.
  • Applicant must be a self-starter, articulate,
  • Professionalism and ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work in a team environment and on own initiative with the desire to learn new skills.
  • Confidentiality
  • Computer literacy – word / excel / outlook – is a must.
  • Some sales experience is desirable but not a necessity.
