The Demand Planner is responsible for creating and managing the production schedule to meet marketing requirements, ensure optimal use of resources, and adjust plans based on daily needs and contingencies.
Monthly Production Plan:
Develop the monthly production plan based on marketing demands, product stock levels, available raw materials, manufacturing capacity, and equipment availability.
Daily Production Schedule:
Collaborate with the Plant Manager, Production Manager, Supervisors, and Production teams to create detailed daily schedules that align with the monthly plan.
Monitor execution of the production schedule and make necessary adjustments in response to real-time conditions.
Coordination with Sales and Marketing:
Work closely with Sales and Marketing representatives to ensure their requests and customer needs are met within the production plan.
Address any production-related concerns or changes requested by Sales and Marketing in a timely manner.
Production Adjustments:
Adjust the daily and monthly production schedules as necessary due to contingencies such as equipment breakdowns or changes in demand, ensuring continuous alignment with both Marketing and Production teams.
Communicate any changes or delays to Sales and Marketing and the production teams to maintain transparency and accuracy in scheduling.
Production Tracking and Reporting:
Oversee Production Clerks to ensure accurate completion of Manufacturing reports including KPIs, production board reports, and tonnage reports.
Maintain updated daily and monthly schedules to reflect any changes, ensuring timely communication to all stakeholders.
Monitor machine and line performance through tracking systems and work with clerks to gather data for reports.
Raw Material Management:
Collaborate with the Procurement Department during Raw Material Meetings to ensure that raw materials are available for all planned production.
Track raw material usage and inputs, placing new orders through the EIG Reqlogic system as necessary.
Reporting and Consolidation:
Consolidate and submit plant reports as requested by the Plant Manager and Production Manager for key meetings.
Provide regular updates to Sales and Marketing on the status of scheduled and unscheduled jobs.
Recalculate and communicate revised production completion dates in the event of significant delays.
Monitoring Production Performance:
Track daily production targets, identifying delays, overproduction, and underproduction.
Highlight issues to Supervisors, the Plant Manager, and the Production Manager for resolution.
Monitor and report monthly on Work In Progress (WIP) to ensure efficient operations
Performance Management:
Completion of all shift rosters for teams
Completion of resource requisitons
Support Production Manager with disciplinary matters
Other:
Assist in monthly/annual stock taking as needed
Comply with all EIGL Policies and procedures
Promote safety awareness and the development of a Safety Culture within the company
Any other duties as required
Experience and Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in Production Plant environment.
Experience in a unionized environment with knowledge of industrial relations
Knowledge of OSH requirements and Quality procedures
Excellent supervisory, communication, and negotiation skills.
Excellent reporting skills
Experience with ERP systems
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
