Data Architect

Barita Investments Limited invites suitably qualified individuals to apply for the role of Data Architect within the Information Technology team.

ROLE & CORE FUNCTIONS

The incumbent will be responsible for conceptualizing and designing the data warehouse and overall data framework. The individual will design data models and create the blueprint for data management, along with giving direction to engineering and intelligence teams on solution design and implementation.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Engage with business, BI and engineering teams to understand data requirements and translate those requirements into technical solutions
• Standardize and implement operational processes for data delivery, maintaining SLAs, and ensuring data accuracy
• Discover data sources, determine the best ETL approach and tools to bring data into the data warehouse, build data cleansing rules and initial transformations, perform data mapping as needed
• Automate technical solutions that integrate data from a variety of data sources
• Drive the design, building, and launching of new data models, data pipelines, and data objects in the data warehouse
• Design, implement and monitor ETL processes to ensure data availability, accuracy, consistency and integrity
• Identify and implement optimizations across data usage from multidisciplinary teams
• Design robust systems that gracefully recover from outages and system issues
• Design, develop, re-engineer, deploy and monitor data pipelines using some combination of Python, BitBucket, SQL, Bash/Shell Scripting, APIs and other tools.
• Design and optimize data warehouse schema and tables to meet business objectives
• Build data processing workflows (using tools like lucid charts, Visio etc.)
• Implement methods to improve data reliability and quality through monitoring and alerting tools
• Analyze and combine raw information from different sources to create consistent and usable formats
• Design and implement architectures that enable data extraction and transformation for predictive or prescriptive modeling

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years of technical experience designing, building and maintaining data warehouses
• 5+ years’ experience with Dimensional Modeling and distributed computing
• 5+ years’ experience working with large-scale data warehouse solutions, complicated datasets, distributing computing engines, ETL automation and BI visualization tools
• 5+ years of experience in developing advanced ETL/ELT pipelines and data integrations
• Experience in building self-service data services
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

REQUISITE COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS

• Highly proficient in SQL and Python, able to write efficient complex queries and ETL jobs that span Petabytes of data
• Strong data infrastructure and data architecture skills
• Working knowledge of relational databases and data lakes (MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Redshift, Snowflake, etc.)
