is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate to fill the following position:

DIRECTOR - STUDENT AFFAIRS

(3-Year Fixed-Term Contract)

 

The Job: The purpose of the job is to lead the institution’s Student Affairs division ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of various services that support the institution's core functions. The position directs the delivery of the outputs from both the Student Services and Registry Services Departments and oversees strategic enrolment management to achieve the institution’s goals for student retention and student experience.

The primary responsibilities include:

  • Guides the formulation and development of policy to support, regulate and improve the quality of student support services at the Institution.
  • Serves as a member of Executive Management.
  • Plays a leading role in the Accreditation process of the institution.
  • Responsible for the strategic alignment, long-term planning, and oversight of major institution-wide student affairs functions in areas including, but not limited to, student services, admissions, student records, examinations and graduation.
  • Directs and oversees developmental advisement, career counselling and student discipline programs.
  • Oversees the planning of student activities, events, and initiatives to enhance student engagement and experience.
  • Directs and oversees student enrolment activities, including admissions, registration, financial aid and scholarships, student records, data collection and analysis
  • Develops, implements and promotes student leadership programmes.
  • Serves as the Chair of the Enrolment Management Committee which is responsible for the strategic enrolment management of the institution. This includes developing recruitment and retention plans in coordination with the Marketing and Registry Services departments to increase the number of students enrolled.
  • Oversees the student matriculation, admissions and examination processes as well as ensures that the required services and other enabling processes are made available to prospective students.
  • Develops and manages the annual operating budget for the Student Affairs Division, allocates resources accordingly after budget approval, and authorises expenditures.
  • Develops, implements, monitors, and reviews strategic and operational plans, procedures and systems in accordance with the institution’s strategic goals, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Works with the departmental managers and coordinators to ensure that applicable services and programmes are planned, developed, regularly reviewed and updated, ensuring quality standards.
  • Directs the efforts of and supervises departmental staff, sets performance standards and accountability.
  • Collaborates closely with the Academic Affairs Division and the Department of Institutional Effectiveness to gather student statistics, which are used for setting targets and enhancing the institution’s student achievement levels.
  • Oversees the activities of the Alumni Executive.
  • Any other duties as deemed necessary.

 

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • A Master’s Degree in Education/ Business Administration/ Social Sciences
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in a tertiary education environment in a leadership role
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in student affairs administration, preferably in tertiary education
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Knowledge in the preparation and conduct of Examinations and in Admissions and Registration operations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of student career and academic advisement.
  • Knowledge and understanding of a range of student life issues and concerns.
  • Knowledge of best practices in student development, student engagement, and student support services.
  • Proficient in data analysis
