is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate to fill the following position:

DEPUTY DIRECTOR - ACADEMIC AFFAIRS
(3-Year Fixed-Term Contract)
The Job: The purpose of the job is to support the Director – Academic Affairs in the development and continuous improvement of the teaching and learning function of the Institution. The post acts as a deputy to the Director - Academic Affairs providing strategic and operational management for the provision of relevant academic administration services to ensure the ongoing effectiveness, efficiency and delivery of the core business of the institution.
The primary responsibilities include:
- As nominated, the Deputy Director - Academic Affairs, will undertake projects, attend/chair meetings and carry forward plans on the Director’s behalf as required, and provide leadership to the Academic Affairs Division in the Director’s absence.
- As a member of Management Team, provide operational management for the Academic Affairs Division. This includes annual academic planning, input into departmental budgets and participation in strategic planning.
- Lead the implementation of the institution’s Research Agenda.
- Collaborate with the Director – Academic Affairs to ensure proper systems and structures are in place to support effective Action Research.
- Chair the Faculty Research Committee.
- Provide support to the Director – Academic Affairs in the development and continuous improvement of the teaching and learning function of the Institution.
- Provide support to the Director – Academic Affairs in the coordination of the curriculum development, programme approval, and programme review processes.
- Prepare documentation in support of applications for programme and institutional accreditation.
- Create and maintain documentation relating to data in all critical areas of teaching and learning.
- Collaborate with the Director – Academic Affairs on activities related to faculty recruitment, professional development, and evaluation of faculty.
- Oversee the provision of relevant academic administration services, ensuring their ongoing effectiveness, efficiency, and delivery.
- Ensure that students and faculty have appropriate access to adequate teaching and learning resources and library services.
- Monitor and address students and faculty concerns.
- Supervise direct reports and manage staff performance.
- Work collaboratively and ensure effective communication to build supportive, professional relationships with stakeholders.
- Any other duties as deemed necessary.
The ideal candidate should possess:
- Master’s degree in education (Curriculum & Instruction or Administration)
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role, preferably in a tertiary or secondary education environment
- Sound judgement, analytical and problem solving skills
- Knowledge and understanding of Learning Management Systems
- Sound knowledge of academic/action research
- Sound knowledge of curriculum design/development
- Knowledge and understanding of teaching and learning
- Sound knowledge in educational administration
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and presentation skills
- Sound knowledge of the tertiary education sector.
