VACANCY

 

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the following position at various institutions under the preview of the North-Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA):

DENTIST I

 

The incumbent will be responsible for performing dental work at a professional level at schools, hospitals or clinics to which he/she is assigned. Work involves the examination, treatment, and complete dental care of persons suffering from dental defects. Work also includes the supervision of a dental attendant and chauffeur operators where a clinic-mobile is in operation and work is performed independently within professional principles, but general directions are received from a professional superior who reviews work through observations and reports for efficiency.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Perform restoration and dental cleaning.
  • Prepare reports relating to the duties performed.
  • Evaluate, diagnose and treat dental disorders and disorders of the oral cavity in adults and children.
  • Educate children and adults in the prevention of dental disorders and the maintenance of a healthy dental condition.
  • Perform oral examination of school children.
  • Lecture and demonstrate to school children and groups on oral and dental care in outreach and wellness initiatives in the Communities.
  • Prepare cavities and fill teeth.
  • Diagnose and treat injuries to the teeth, and diseases of the oral cavity.
  • Perform oral prophylaxis and extract teeth.
  • Supervise the work of a small group of technical assistants and auxiliary staff (dental nurses and dental assistants).
  • Supervises day to day functioning of the dental clinic.
  • Prepare monthly and annual reports.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by the appropriate organisational relationship.

Minimum Qualifications, Training and Experience:

  • Professional training as a Dental Surgeon as evidenced by a Degree in Dentistry.
  • Registered with the Dental Council of Trinidad & Tobago.

 * Certificates acquired at foreign universities MUST be supported by certified transcripts as well as evidence that the completed programme is accredited in Trinidad and Tobago. *
