Customs Clerk - Grade 1

The role supports the logistics and customs operations by facilitating the timely movement of goods, maintaining positive relationships with customs officials and transportation providers, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain working knowledge of import and export laws and regulations.
• Clear shipments (air and ocean) at all ports of entry.
• Collect shipping documents from agents (air and ocean).
• Certify cheques at commercial banks.
• Deliver goods LCL goods to domestic customers and to various Ports of Bonds.
• Report to the Logistics, Customs and Costing Co-ordinator with frequent updates via phone call, email or Whatsapp
• Liaise with officials to ensure the efficient clearance of goods .
• Liaise with Logistics, Customs and Costing Co-ordinator for transport and courier services.
• Maintain positive relationships with Customs officials.
• Maintain positive relationships with transportation haulers.
• Prepare documents and/or review them for accuracy and completeness.
• Enter data in the port of POS NAVIS system.
• Obtaining releases from relevant government agencies.
• Perform other work-related duties as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed with objectives without supervision.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Computer literate in Microsoft office applications.

Qualifications and Experience

• 5 CXC, GCE, or CSEC passes, including Mathematics and English.
• Grade 1 Customs Clerk License
• Valid Class 4 driver's permit or license.
• At least 3 years of experience in an brokerage environment.
• An appropriate combination of work experience and qualifications.

Special Requirements

• Working vehicle.
• Willing to overtime, whenever necessary.
