The Customer Service Associate (CSA) works in support of the store management team to facilitate the completion of all store level tasks.

The Customer Service Associate (CSA) works in support of the store management team to facilitate the completion of all store level tasks and performs a variety of tasks related to different areas of the store including food preparation, cash register duties, customer service, general housekeeping and other related functions. The CSA ensures an exceptional customer experience that supports the company’s vision.

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

 A Customer Service Associate, must perform all duties listed below: 

Cash Register Area 

  • Greet customers and provide an enjoyable shopping experience for all customers.
  • Operate the point-of-sale system, scan items, bag merchandise, take payments, provide change from purchases and provide a bill of sale for each transaction performed. 
  • Ensure the correct details related to fuel sales are entered correctly on point-of-sale system.
  • Provide customers with information on daily specials and discount deals.
  • Process credit card payments and ensure that customers sign slips.
  • Make sure that credit cards are returned to customers once they have been successfully swiped.
  • Refer all requests for refunds and credits to the Supervisor.
  • Perform a record count of alcohol, phone cards and cigarettes at the beginning of shift and balance to the previous shift closing count.  Maintain proper cash levels in register drawer.
  • Stock and refill register area inventory.
  • Respond to customer requests in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that no unauthorised persons are given access to the cash booth.
  • Ensure all cash overages and shortages are recorded and accounted for.
  • Balancing of cash deposits must be done in the presence of a Supervisor/Manager.
  • All cash received must be recorded through the register.
  • Cash funds must not be left unattended and stored in a cash box within a register.

 

Convenience Store Duties 

  • Ensure shelves are maintained to the required standards for dry storage, refrigerated/freezer items and grocery items.
  • Ensure shelf items are properly rotated, removing damaged or expired items and providing optimal display of products.
  • Maintain instore stock inventory, ensuring that records are updated as and when required. and keep records of store inventory.
  • Proper handling and storage of all store stock.
  • Proper rotation of inventory and shelf stock
  • Coordinating the work processes with the sales teams and other store departments.
  • Efficiently following all the tasks delegated by the supervising authority.
  • Completing all assigned targets within the specified deadline.
  • Maintaining cleanliness in the store and stockroom.
  • Following all standard operating procedures of the store.
  • Provide a pleasant shopping experience for all customers and respond to customer requests in a timely fashion.
  • Must be able to perform other duties as assigned by store management.
  • Responsible for disposing of trash.
  • Compliance with all safety requirements.

Ensure safe working conditions by maintaining a clean, organized store in accordance to required standards.

Job Duties for Fuel 

  • Assisting customers with fuel pump machines and maintaining a clean and safe fuel station.
  • Perform daily manual inspection of nozzles, hoses, vapor recovery, spill bucket and other components in the fuel court to ensure safe working conditions.
  • Log details of manual inspection as required.
  • Clean fuel area (pumps, trash,) with cleaning chemicals. Restock all fuel area supplies and products.
  • Inspect and clean the air pump with cleaning chemicals.
  • Clear oil and gas spills in accordance with all safety standards. 

 

ACADEMIC/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 5 CXC O’level subjects including English.
  • Must be physically capable of lifting at least 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform the following physical behaviours occasionally during their shift: bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, pushing, and reaching below waist.
