Overall responsibility for supporting Sol markets in planning, developing and executing projects safely, on time and on budget in a close partnership with Sol stakeholders.

Reports To; Regional Lead

Purpose; Overall responsibility for supporting Sol markets in planning, developing and executing projects safely, on time and on budget in a close partnership with Sol stakeholders (RMs, GMs, Ops. Mgrs., Accounting, Legal, etc.), contractors and suppliers.

Responsibilities: 

  • Demonstrate leadership and commitment to Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) through personal engagement in all projects and in all interactions with Sol and outside stakeholders.
  • Manage Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) budgets for assigned projects.
  • Plan, design and execute terminals, retail and commercial infrastructure projects through contractors with emphasis on executing safely, timely and on budget.
  • Identify, appraise, engage and manage contractors providing technical services to Sol in all project phases.
  • Lead and manage projects from initial stages of scoping, planning, budgeting (FEED), bidding and procuring to execution and handover of final assets to Sol stakeholders. 
  • The position also entails the normal duties of a Project Manager for the assigned projects such as: Close budget tracking; detailed project time lies; reporting and constant engagement with Sol stakeholders and contractors to provide full visibility of project progress; review and approval of contractor and supplier invoices; working with Finance to ensure proper asset categorization and others.
  • Determine and validate all technical and commercial aspects of projects such as materials, equipment specifications, contractual terms, etc.
  • Jointly with Supply Cain prepare and evaluate tender documents for engineering projects.
  • Assist with technical facilities and equipment audits and inspections at depots and customer sites.
  • Other duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements: 
  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is preferred.   Civil, Industrial or similar disciplines could be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Oil & Gas (preferably Downstream) or Chemicals industries.
  • Certified in or able to prove knowledge of API Design and Inspection Standards (e.g. Above Ground Tank (API 653); Piping (API 570); Pressure Vessel (API 510); Non-Destructive and other testing techniques) in support of developing and managing asset integrity programs.
  • Skilled in contract management and negotiations.
  • Certifications or accreditations such as membership in engineering bodies, Project Mgmt. Institute and others are a plus.
  • Strong time management skills, efficiency and organization.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite: Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Project and engineering-specific tools for budgeting, contract and procurement and project definition and execution.
  • Understanding of Operations and Operations management
