The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is a specialized agency with the responsibility for the care and protection of children, especially those who are at risk or have been victims of abuse or neglect.

The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is seeking to recruit for the role of Corporate Communications Officer, on contract.

The Corporate Communications Officer plays a pivotal role in managing and enhancing the Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago's corporate image and reputation through strategic communications initiatives. This position is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive communication strategies that align with international standards and organizational goals, ensuring effective stakeholder engagement, and fostering a positive public perception of the Authority.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in corporate communications or public relations roles.
  • Experience in social media management, marketing or digital technology.

Principal Accountabilities/ Key Functions:

  • Develop and execute strategic communication plans to promote the Authority’s mission, objectives, and achievements.

  • Participate in the design, organisation and implementation of a creative and effective Marketing/Communications Strategy, including content management for the Authority’s digital media.
  • Implement brand management strategies to ensure consistency in messaging and visual identity across all communication channels.
  • Participate in the preparation and execution of programmes geared towards educating and informing the public about the work of the Authority.
  • Assist in identifying stakeholders' needs and propose relevant engagement strategies.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with media representatives, key stakeholders, and community partners to facilitate positive coverage and partnerships.
  • Prepare and disseminate media releases, media kits, newsletters, and other relevant communications materials.
  • Monitor media coverage and public opinion to proactively address issues and manage crisis communications when necessary.
  • Organize and manage media conferences, interviews, and other media events, as required.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure alignment of communication strategies with organizational initiatives.
  • Conduct research and analyze communication trends to continuously improve communication effectiveness and reach.
  • Perform day-to-day management of the intranet site through the use of a Content Management System, including design, content and technical functions, to ensure that it is useful for staff and that content is up-to-date, and accurate.
  • Provide communication support for internal initiatives such as employee engagement programs, training sessions, and corporate events.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards in all communication activities.
  • Perform any other duties as may be required to successfully achieve this job function.
