The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is a specialized agency with the responsibility for the care and protection of children, especially those who are at risk or have been victims of abuse or neglect.

The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is seeking to recruit for the role of Corporate Communications Manager, on contract.

The Corporate Communications Manager will lead the development and implementation of comprehensive communication strategies to enhance the Children’s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago’s (CATT) public image and internal communication efforts. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of corporate communications including media relations, crisis communication, internal communications, and stakeholder engagements.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Communication Studies, Public Relations, Media Relations, or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing  or a related field.
  • Eight (8) years of progressive experience in corporate communications.
  • At least four (4) years in a managerial/ supervisory role.

Desirous:

  • Professional certification in Public Relations or Communications preferred (e.g., APR).
  • Experience in a complex organizational environment, preferably in the public sector or child welfare services.
Principal Accountabilities/ Key Functions:
  • Develop and execute strategic communication plans aligned with CATT’s objectives and international best practices.

  • Manage media relations, including proactive outreach, draft media  releases and speeches, and respond to media inquiries to ensure accurate representation of CATT.
  • Oversee the creation and distribution of internal communications materials, ensure consistent messaging across all channels.
  • Act as a spokesperson for CATT, represent the organization at media interviews, public events, and industry conferences.
  • Monitor public opinion and media coverage related to child welfare issues, advise senior management on potential reputational risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop crisis communication strategies and serve as a key member of the crisis management team.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including government agencies, NGOs, community groups, and the public.
  • Provide strategic communication counsel to senior management and Board members, ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with other teams to identify the public voice of the brand.
  • Create style guides and brand voice outlines for all public relations, marketing, advertising and other vital departments.
  • Consult with executive management to develop effective communication procedures and policies for various situations and crises.
  • Manage the Corporate Communications team, provide leadership, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
  • Perform any other duties as may be required to successfully achieve this job function.
