Responsibility for the Continuous Improvement of engineering processes for the Engineering Department, provision of leadership and training. Required to investigate, analyze and implement business process improvement programs to enhance the efficiency of the KFTL Engineering Department.

JOB PURPOSE

Responsibility for the Continuous Improvement of engineering processes for the Engineering Department and the provision of leadership and training to support this improvement. The position is required to investigate, analyze and implement business process improvement programs which will enhance the efficiency of the KFTL Engineering Department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, INCLUDE:

  • Create and actively promote Safety culture and Hazard awareness and ensure that the Company remain in full compliance with relevant Safety, Health and other Statutory Codes and Regulations.  Ensure safety at each workplace.
  • Maintain production goals and objectives as a team and actively participate in KFTL Continuous Improvement Program
  • Practice and promote company environmental, health, safety and operational policies and procedures
  • Assist in training and developing new employees and Lean 6 Sigma Yellow Belts and Green Belts candidates.  Facilitate and train ENG staff in FMEA / FMECA, RCA methodologies.  Establish Defect Elimination program within ENG
  • Ensure that all improvement ideas for Engineering are captured, processed, resourced, prepare and maintain Idea Generation Tool, and follow up as required to optimize maintenance and minimize waste / losses.
  • Conduct regular ENG Departmental CI Meetings with the purpose of creating a constant focus on improvement, establish performance measures for CI and involve all Engineering personnel in CI culture to identify areas for improvement and demonstrate progress
  • Establish and co-ordinate rolling 2-year Continuous Improvement plan for ENG and conduct CI training sessions for ENG staff, Kaizens and other CI events.  Prepare relevant reports and publish monthly CI newsletter
  • Be responsible for the Total Productive Maintenance implementation
  • Assist the Head of Engineering in preparing annual budget for Engineering, perform regular costs analysis, monitor budget compliance, and find new ways of costs savings
  • Report all accidents, unsafe positions, defected equipment, and safety complains from his department to HSE representative, investigate, represent, and provide technical reports for any incidents.  Participate in Root Cause Analysis of failures when required

 EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KEY COMPETENCIES

  • BSc in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience, preferably in heavy industrial maintenance
  • In-depth knowledge in Continuous Improvement processes, programs and methodologies and the ability to implement the Continuous Improvement Plan
  • Certified Lean 6 Sigma Black Belt, Kaizen Master, Agile Master, or Scrum Master etc. preferred
  • Experience with CMMS
  • Well-developed critical thinking, leadership, collaborative, organising, communication and report writing skills,
  • Extensive knowledge of Terminal site safety, health and environmental regulations as they pertain to industrial maintenance and significant reliability experience within a large-scale marine terminals, ports, complex processing plant or heavy industry
  • The ability to handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously and work under pressure is essential.
