Massy Wood is currently recruiting for a Construction Focal Point – Construction Lead with extensive experience in the oil & gas industry.

 

Overview / Responsibilites

 

The Construction Focal Point – Construction Lead is responsible for overseeing total construction field effort to ensure the quality and integrity of each project and bringing projects in on schedule and within budget while using in-house construction management procedures and experience to provide continuity and consistency of construction management with quality assurance and reliable control. 


  • Efficiently Plan, implement, and manage a team of construction personnel including Construction, Engineers, supervisors, and Coordinators. Logistic and material coordinators that are operationally tagged to the construction team.
  • Provide constructability input to the design and direction in the layout, fabrication assembly, installation, test and pre-commissioning of on/offshore facilities equipment, to ensure compliance with  the agreed scopes of work and project schedule.
  • Approve of work packs including detailed Job card man-hour estimating and compilation of WBS’s.
  • Approval of Job Cards.
  • Aid in the contracting activities, including preparation of tender enquiry documents, preparation of responses to tenderers requests for technical clarifications; and plays an active role in the evaluation of tenders from a technical point of view according to Massy Wood Group policies and procedures.
  • Review construction histograms with construction manager to right align resources as and when needed.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to construction, Outages, and commissioning contractors in the execution of their designated activities.
  • Ensure construction coordinator interface with Self Preform on all shop works and ensure adequate reporting is submitted on time to key stakeholders.
  • Ensure all construction report are submitted by 9am the following day.
  • Ensure all construction activities are ready for site execution and preforms look ahead to ensure work flows seamlessly to site.
  • Preform SVs on various construction process and procedure to ensure compliance.
  • Use Massy Wood data (PowerBi, Power apps, manhours reports, construction ADO board & WRA) to drive efficiency and performance in the construction team.
  • Review site performance with coordinator and ensure adjustment is done if need be (productivity & wrench time).
  • Review construction deliverables/ milestones to ensure construction team can hit. Any risk is documented and communicated to key stakeholders.
  • Review construction manhours weekly report to track utilization and ensure when hours reach 75% utilize PCR are raised to accommodate additional hours with justification if needed.
  • Incorporate 4 weeks look ahead into construction sprint for better efficiency and deliverables tracking.
  • Assist in the development of POB plans/ schedules for site activities and ensure these plans are detail enough to manage site activities.
  • Ensure construction coordinator delegates lower construction deliveries to the construction supervisor and these tasks are preform as directed.
  • Ensure construction team are using updated construction workflows and procedure to achieve acceptable site readiness and site execution according to schedule.
  • Review all construction team reports and data before being sent out to stakeholders to ensure it is fit for purpose.
  • Review CRR and WRA’s before stakeholder meeting to ensure these documents are fit for purpose.
  • Ensure change management is applied as soon as possible as changes are identified. Ensure team use digital tool (CR&PCR) to get changes to client in the shortest possible time.
  • Review ADR estimate and challenge construction coordinator in their estimation and reasoning for ADR development. Ensure hours and tasks are clearly visible and qualifications are stated in the estimate.
  • Ensure TQ are completed by construction engineers timely as any site changes occur.
  • Ensure coordinators meet each activity gate as described in the project schedule, if gap exist, they are documented and communicated to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Attend key meeting to get understanding of scopes and works in the planning phase (Site progress meeting, daily construction meeting, scope kick off meeting, CRR meeting, WRA’s meeting, daily call-in meetings and construction performance meeting).
  • Lead the construction delivery from Define, Execute Engineering, Functional Readiness, Site Readiness, Site Execution and SH1.
  • Identifies all roadblock/ issues and carry out problem solving techniques to solve with construction team with an aid to close out open gaps.
  • Drive the construction coordinators to ensure all preparation of their plans and procedures assuring they are both achievable and technically acceptable in-line with the project and legislative requirements.
  • Ensure that construction hazards and risks are fully considered by designers and contractors and that appropriate mitigation actions are implemented, and appropriate action taken. That these risks are documented in Risk Pro with detailed mitigations.
  • Maintain the required technical quality of work.
  • Ensure that work output complies with the relevant Procedures/Codes/Practices.
  • Ensure as far as practically possible all assigned work is carried out in compliance with agreed budget and schedule.
  • Manages and controls project cost and schedule of assigned discipline / subset of onsite construction.
  • Utilize Commercial processes to capture variations effectively.
  • Keep up to date with technical developments, national and international standards and legislative requirements related to the scope of the discipline.
  • Participate as necessary in discussions with Client and visit jobsites when necessary.
  • Ability to monitor work progress and report against the plan.
  • Keeping up to date with technical developments, standards and legislative requirements related to the discipline.
  • Managing relationships with Management, Construction Staff, and the Client.
  • Continuously improving Construction service delivery.
  • Perform all other related job functions as required.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree/ Diploma in Engineering from a recognised university
  • Minimum of Fifteen (15) - Twenty (25) years’ experience in construction in oil and gas industry with involvement in Process piping and equipment projects
  • Ability to synthesize complex or diverse information.
  • Ability to read and understand P&IDs for process and piping systems.
  • Ability to delegate work assignments and give authority to work independently, set expectations and monitor delegated activities.
  • Knowledge of Construction information systems.
  • Knowledge of Construction planning, scheduling, and reliability concepts.
  • Ability to work effectively and prioritize in a high performance, fast-paced work environment.
  • Inspires and motivates others to work well and accepts feedback.
  • Seeks ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Ability to make decisions in a timely manner and exhibits sound and accurate judgment.
  • Preference will be given to national citizens or permanent residents of Trinidad & Tobago.
