Job Summary
The Compliance Officer at KANE Agencies will oversee the development, implementation, and enforcement of compliance policies and procedures. This role ensures that all company activities adhere to legal standards and internal guidelines, reducing risk and safeguarding the company's reputation.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Policy Development and Implementation:
    • Develop, review, and update the agency’s compliance policies to ensure alignment with current legal and regulatory standards.
    • Implement procedures for compliance monitoring, reporting, and employee training to foster a culture of integrity and compliance.
  2. Regulatory Compliance Management:
    • Stay current with local, regional, and international regulations affecting the shipping and logistics industry, including customs, trade, and environmental regulations.
    • Work closely with the agency manager, principal’s Head of Compliance to integrate compliance requirements into operations, minimizing legal risks.
  3. Audit and Monitoring:
    • Conduct regular audits to evaluate the effectiveness of compliance protocols, document findings, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
    • Monitor business activities, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  4. Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
    • Identify, assess, and manage compliance risks across operations, particularly in shipping, cargo handling, and customs documentation.
    • Implement and enforce risk mitigation measures, reporting significant issues to senior management.
  5. Training and Education:
    • Develop and deliver training programs to employees on compliance, regulatory updates, and ethical conduct.
    • Promote awareness of compliance standards and ensure understanding among staff at all levels.
  6. Reporting and Documentation:
    • Prepare and submit compliance reports to management and regulatory bodies as required.
    • Maintain accurate records of compliance activities, audits, and investigations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field; certification in compliance (e.g., CCEP, CFE) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a compliance role, preferably within the insurance industry
  • Strong understanding of industry regulations
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
