Compliance Officer 

Reporting to the Regional Compliance Officer the ideal candidate will: assist in developing and implementing compliance programmes for GraceKennedy Trinidad & Tobago and any other assigned markets. The candidate will develop and administer risk management program for the GKMS Group – inclusive of Trinidad and assisting with any other assigned territories.

The ideal candidate should have:

Academic

  •  Bachelor Degree in Management Studies or related field or equivalent education and experience
  • ACAMS Certification OR ICA OR related designation (e.g – CFCS)
  • In-depth knowledge of Trinidad (or any other assigned territory) Anti-Money Laundering Legislation and regulatory requirements

Related Work Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a middle or senior management position at a bank or similar type financial institution

                                                                                      OR

  • Minimum five (5) years' experience in the Compliance field, including working knowledge of risk management, governance, and controls;

Job Specification

  • Ensure continuous monitoring and analysis of the companies’ regulated entities thus ensuring statutory requirements for Compliance, Anti- Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism are met.
  • Develop, initiate, maintain and revise policies and procedures for the operation of the Compliance Program.
  • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; developing/implementing corrective action plans for resolution and providing general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
  • Maintain records of training conducted, programmes and participants.
  • Ensure Agent locations are licensed in a timely manner and appropriate records of each Agency maintained.
  • Design and develop risk plans, reporting to senior management on the risk status.
  • Develop training programmes that seek to ensure that all appropriate employees are knowledgeable of, and comply with regulations.
  • Conduct compliance training to all employees, Agents and Customer Service Representative in Trinidad and by extension the GKMS Group.
  • Function as key representative/liaison in meetings with state agencies and industry organizations regarding compliance policy.
  • Protect the company’s interests which may be affected by proposed legislative and/or regulatory issues.
  • Perform any other job-related duties assigned from time to time.

 Internal Audit

  • Assisting in the preparation and completion, and circulation on GKMS’ response to the Group Internal Audit recommendations and prepare monthly status report for the Regional Compliance Officer and/or GKMS Chief Compliance Officer.
  • Monitoring of audit recommendations for on time completion and communicate any concerns to Regional Compliance Officer and/or GKMS Chief Compliance Officer or GKMS Chief Executive Officer.

 Sanctions

  • Develop and implement sanctions for non-compliance and enforce penalties for non-compliance at agent locations.

 Regulatory Reporting

  • Report on as directed or requested to keep the senior management informed of the operation and progress of compliance efforts.
  • Ensure reporting of potential violations to duly authorized enforcement agencies as required.
  • Ensure all reports to the regulatory bodies, Financial Investigation Divisions/Unit (FID/FIU), Central Banks, Law enforcement agencies are submitted on a timely basis.
  • Respond to Official requests such a Subpoenas/Production Orders/Court Orders and other official queries as the principal point of contact in a timely manner.

 Administrative/Supervisory

  • Submit monthly reports to the Regional Compliance Officer and/or GKMS Chief Compliance Officer to guide management and policy decision.
  • Assist in the preparation of departmental budget.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects to broaden perspective of other areas that impact the overall Operations function.
  • Keep up to date on knowledge of laws, compliance legislation, and regulatory issues that may affect the business and assist in evaluating the impact on the business.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and development plans for staff (where applicable) to identify areas of strength and areas for development.
  • Perform and administer staff performance management programmes for staff reporting directly (where applicable).
