Combination Welder - Trinidad

The Welder is responsible for operating manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to join and or cut metal segments using processes such as: GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, and Oxy-Acetylene OAW.

• Set up and operate welding machines such as spot, seam resistance or gas and arc welding machines to join or repair metal parts.
• Read and interpret Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
• Select correct electrodes and rods as required by Welding Procedure Specification
• Operate manual or semi-automatic flame cutting equipment, e.g. Oxy-Acetylene and Plasma Cutting process.
• Assist with the maintenance and minor repair of welding, brazing and soldering equipment.
• Use portable grinder, hand file, and/or scraper to clean welds during and after welding.
• Perform preliminary visual inspection on completed welds.
• Read and interpret welding symbols on fabrication drawings.
• Proficient in SMAW, GTAW, GMAW and FCAW processes.
• Assist with general pipe and structural fabrication.
• Support (not only limited to welding activities) Field Construction team in daily activities as required.
• Perform Housekeeping activities as required.
• Perform and participate in valid risk assessment on all hot works activities.
• Carry out relevant instructions in a safe manner.
• Performs all other related job functions as required.

• Secondary School Leaving Certificate.
• Welder Performance Qualification for relevant piping & structural materials.
• Industry courses in welding (Craftsman’s diploma in Welding).
• A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a similar role.
• Must possess good verbal and oral communication skills.
• Must possess good interpersonal skills, team player.
• Must be able to read and interpret welding Diagrams and procedures.
• Must be able to read and interpret welding specifications.
• Must possess training in hot work safety.
