We are seeking a highly organized and result-oriented individual to fill the position of Cold Room Supervisor. This critical role requires a blend of operational, managerial, and customer service skills. The successful candidate will be a highly organized and results-oriented individual with strong leadership qualities and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.

 CORE PURPOSE:

  • Oversee Cold Room Operations: The Supervisor is primarily responsible for the efficient and effective management of the Finished Goods department. This includes supervising staff, maintaining schedules, planning and assigning work, and ensuring product quality.
  • Customer Order Fulfilment: The Supervisor plays a crucial role in order fulfilment, receiving and processing customer orders, and coordinating their timely dispatch.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise Cold Room Operations: Oversee the receipt, storage, and dispatch of products in the Cold Room, ensuring compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Equipment Maintenance: Liaise  with the Maintenance Department for the maintenance and repair of Cold Room equipment, including refrigeration systems, to ensure optimal performance
  • Inventory Management: Receive and check stock, manage finished goods inventory and conduct regular stock takes
  • Order Fulfilment: Receive and process customer orders, ensuring accurate and timely loading of trucks and depots
  • Quality Control: Maintain product quality standards, ensuring proper storage conditions, and conduct daily checks using the Cold Room facility checklist
  • Team Management: Supervise and coordinate the activities of the Cold Room staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient operations. Conduct performance evaluations and maintain discipline
  • Safety and Sanitation: Ensure the Cold Room environment is safe and sanitary, implementing and enforcing procedures for cleaning, sanitation, and pest control
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including food safety, health and safety, and environmental standards
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and submit reports on cold room operations, inventory levels, and quality control, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • ASc. in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Management, or related field
  • Certification in Supervisory Management
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, quality control procedures, and inventory management principles

EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS:

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in warehousing, inventory management or other related fields, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role, preferably in a food manufacturing or production environment
  • Organizational & Coordination Skills: Excellent planning, organizing, and time-management abilities
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Integrity & Confidentiality: High ethical standards and the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound judgments
  • Leadership & Training: Ability to lead, motivate, and train staff
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and follow-up skills

 WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The Supervisor will primarily work within the Cold Room facility with exposure to cold temperatures (due to refrigeration systems) and heavy equipment
  • Some work may require lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to climb ladders, use hand tools, and work in confined spaces
  • Occasional work in noisy or hot environments
