Role Overview:
The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and optimising cloud infrastructure within a regulated environment. This role ensures scalability, security, compliance, and operational efficiency. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, business stakeholders, and cloud providers, the Cloud Engineer delivers resilient, industry-compliant cloud solutions tailored to the unique needs of the financial sector.
Key Duties & Responsibilities (includes, but is not limited to):
- Cloud Infrastructure & Migrations: Leading infrastructure consolidations, migrations, and transformations across dedicated, multi-cloud, and hybrid environments.
- Azure Implementation & Management: Deploying and managing Azure-based solutions via Azure Portal, Azure Resource Manager, Command-Line Interface, and PowerShell while ensuring best practices in networking, connectivity, and security (e.g., ExpressRoute, Network Security Groups, Azure Firewall).
- Automation & Orchestration: Proficient in cloud automation using Bash, PowerShell, Python, and Terraform to streamline deployments and operational workflows.
- Server Administration: Advanced management of Windows & Linux servers, including backup automation, monitoring, and alerting systems.
- Technical Advisory & Documentation: Delivering training sessions, cloud adoption strategies, governance guidance, and comprehensive documentation (e.g., architecture diagrams, inventory, presentations).
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engaging with cloud service providers, management, and business units to align technical implementations with strategic objectives while proactively identifying risks and mitigation strategies.
Qualifications & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related technical field (or equivalent work experience).
- 7+ years of experience in enterprise environments working with diverse system platforms.
- Holds at least one top-tier technical certification in a high-demand technology domain.
- Preferred Microsoft Azure certifications: AZ-103/104, AZ-203, AZ-500, AZ-400, AZ-300, AZ-301.
- Additional Microsoft certifications: Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS), or equivalent.
- Experience or certifications in IaaS, Exchange, SharePoint, Office 365, and Microsoft 365.
- Familiarity with multi-cloud environments, including Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), is an asset.
Skills and Experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience in client engagement, stakeholder collaboration, and documentation.
- Adaptable to evolving technologies with a commitment to continuous learning and earning relevant certifications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other productivity tools to support business and technical operations.
- Strong expertise in Azure services, such as computing, networking, storage, database services, administration, security, deployment, and application services.
- Solid understanding of cloud strategy, operations, capacity planning, utilisation, disaster recovery, migrations, and consolidations.
- Skilled in Windows Server, Remote Desktop Services (RDS), Domain Name System (DNS), Active Directory, firewalls, load balancers, and gateway devices.
- Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server, Exchange, SharePoint, O365, and M365, with experience integrating various "as-a-Service" models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
- Hands-on experience with VMware, Hyper-V, AWS, Google Cloud, IaaS architecture, networking, cybersecurity, and DevOps.
- Experienced in Agile methodologies, sprint planning, and iterative project execution.
- Familiar with compliance frameworks (PCI, SOX, etc.) and security best practices in cloud and hybrid environments.
