The Close Protection Officer (CPO) is entrusted with the responsibilities of ensuring the safety and security of our company's designated executives, family and assets.

The CPO will be accountable for the following key areas:

Ensuring the safety and security of the enterprise’s principal, the designated executives, their families, and assets.

  • Based on the executive’s daily itinerary expertly conduct a thorough threat/risk assessment to determine any potential risk and vulnerabilities and implement mitigating strategies to avert risk and safeguard the executives.
  • Maintain close visual proximity to the executive, particularly when offsite to be able to detect potential threats and execute the required safety and security precautions.
  • Controlling access to the executives by validating credentials and conducting security screening of visitors and staff. This is crucial for limiting access to authorized personnel only.
  • Continuous monitoring for suspicious activity or individuals at events, venues, and during transport.
  • Conducting advance checks of venues and events to identify security risks, planning entry/exit routes, coordinating with local security personnel. Thorough venue checks are vital for risk mitigation.
  • Being prepared to use appropriate physical force or non-lethal weapons to neutralize threats and extract the executive from danger. Use of force training is a prerequisite.
  • Maintaining constant communication with other members of the protection team to coordinate positions and responses. Up-to-date information exchange is critical.
  • CPOs must establish relationships and have police contacts to stay updated on ongoing risks like protests or adversarial presence. 
  • CPOs must avail themselves to emergency drills rehearse scenarios, like safely evacuating the principal/executives from a building or rushing them away from a potential high-risk scene.

Skills and Core Competencies

  • Punctual for all assignments.
  • Be the holder of a valid driver's license.
  • Be the holder of a Firearm user’s license.
  • Good communication and writing skills.
  • The close protection officer (CPO) must be highly physically fit.
  • Must have expertise training in self-defense techniques, weapon disarming and emergency restraints.
  • Must have training in evasive and defensive driving skills to operate vehicles under pressure and conduct rapid extractions.
  • Medical response capabilities are vital, CPOs should be able to provide emergency first aid and trauma care if required.
  • CPOs often operate in high-profile settings around VIPs, dignitaries and celebrities. Diplomacy and professionalism are essential to maintain positive relations without being overbearing.
  • CPOs must have strong "soft" skills as the role requires person-to-person interaction, sensitivity, discretion and clear communication.
