The Client Services Underwriter is dedicated to providing an unparalleled level of service to The Company's Direct Customer base in order to ensure their continued satisfaction, as well as contribute to the sustainable growth and development of the business.

Scope

The Client Services Underwriter is expected to deal directly with the Direct Customers, and will be empowered to act on The Company's behalf, have the ability to bind cover up to a specified amount, provide quotes, manage claims and receivables, deal with customer service issues and engage in marketing of the Company's services. 

Key Responsibilities:

Main Activities

  • Business development/revenue generation
  • To bind coverage for quotations provided within the Unit in keeping with The Beacon’s guidelines and provided Limits of Authority.

Internal Operations

  • To provide immediate Proof of Cover as may be required.
  • To ensure the accuracy and efficiency of all entries made on the company's core operating system, LANSA.
  • To issue and deliver all Policy and other Documents where necessary or required.
  • To maintain the book of business under your purview by ensuring policies are renewed through continuous communication with the Customers.
  • To continuously ensure compliance with all of the company's guidelines, manuals and corporate policies.
  • To assist in the preparation of Monthly reports on business written and overall performance of the book of business under the branch purview.
  • To control incoming and outgoing correspondences relating to the book of business under your purview.
  • To collect premiums for all business (new and renewal) for which you are responsible.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.         

 Customer

  • To provide personal and dedicated service to customers.
  • To provide technical advice to Customers when necessary.
  • To continuously provide Customers with service through communication, and assisting them with queries.
  • Efficient and timely handling of complaints or queries.

 Claims

  • To provide assistance for claims service.
  • Providing briefs to the claims department on the claimant and the respective risk(s).
  • Receiving claim forms.
  • Determining coverage or absence thereof.
  • Providing guidance and updates to the Customer throughout the claim process.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum five (5) CXC passes including Math and English (minimum grade 2)
  • CII Certificate or equivalent 
  • General Insurance State License 
  • Minimum of 1-3 years experience in general insurance underwriting
