The Clerk of Work is responsible for managing different aspects of the construction project, supervising team members, compiling required report and interacting internally and externally with company contractors, clients and staff to execute the required work.

 

  1. I.                    JOB SUMMARY

 

The Clerk of Work is responsible for managing different aspects of the construction project, supervising team members, compiling required report and interacting internally and externally with company contractors, clients and staff to execute the required work. The role of the Clerk of Works is critical the overall success of the construction projects and the company as a whole.

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Monitor progress and reporting to construction managers, architects and clients
  • Review contractor’s records, reporting discrepancies and ensuring that recommended corrective works are carried out
  • Organise and attend project and toolbox meetings
  • Inspect construction work and comparing it with drawings and specifications
  • Measure and quality checking building materials
  • Identify defects and suggesting ways to correct them
  • Keep detailed records of work
  • Refer to plans and taking photographs of work, along with measurements and samples
  • Liaise with contractors, engineers and surveyors
  • Assist with project close-out/hand-over activities
  • Prepare daily, weekly, monthly and Ad Hoc reports for the Employer and Engineer
  • Check that building regulations, health and safety, legal and ecological requirements are met
  • Work between an office and construction sites
  • Prepare responses to queries
  • Monitor site operations and reporting on violations related to contract requirements, occupational health and safety standards
  • Any other duties assigned by Management.

 

  1. II.                  PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Extensive field work under various outdoor conditions
  • Be able to drive
  • Ability to frequently lift and move more than 50 pounds.

 

 

 

  1. III.                EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
  • Associates degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management or Quantity Surveying.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in the monitoring of electrical and/or infrastructure works
  • Training/experience in Project Management
  • Applicable Health & Safety Training/Certification
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Effective communication, organization and time management skills
  • Must have ability to work overtime, or weekends as per workload demands.

 

  1. IV.               SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite or similar applications
  • Effective communication, organization and time management skills
  • Must be able to work overtime, or weekends as per workload demands
  • Ability to work on own initiative and cope well with pressure.
