Currently we are seeking a Chief Risk Officer (CRO), an executive who will assist in the development of the overall risk management framework and is primarily responsible, with the Board of Directors and Senior Management, for the risk governance, oversight, management, and mitigation of internal and external risks of the financial institution.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

• Work closely with the CEO and the Senior Management Team so that the internal and external risks to the financial institution are understood and appropriately managed and mitigated against outcomes that could prevent the institution from successfully achieving its overall business strategy and goals.
• Ensure that the Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF), ERM processes and policies are embedded and maintained throughout the financial institution.
• Implement enterprise-wide programs to strengthen the control environment, to include the review and revision of policies and procedures, and the risk operating model.
• Provide ongoing management and implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework, including strategy, policies life cycle, risk events monitoring, breaches reporting and remediation plans, risk profile and risk appetite.
• Assist the Board of Directors in discharging its risk governance and oversight responsibilities.
• Coach cross-functional teams to ensure effective risk processes/controls are in place and are being followed to protect customer and shareholder interests, including the areas of account openings, operations, financial control, internal control, compliance, IT, human resources, and other business units.
• Developing and facilitating risk management training as and when required.
• Responsible for embedding and sustaining a consistent execution of the risk management policies and procedures in all client interactions.

Education                                 

• Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Actuarial Science, Banking, Economics, Law, or related field is desirable. Master’s degree would be an asset.
• Professional certification in Insurance Risk Management, Risk Management, or Enterprise Risk Management is preferable.
• Financial Institution working knowledge of COSO ERM Framework and/or ISO 31000 ERM Framework as the two widely accepted, international standards for risk management.
