GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/ROLE SUMMARY The Chief People Officer (CPO) is responsible for the development and implementation of people-driven strategies. Their work ensures that employees feel valued, supported, and motivated to contribute to the organisation’s success. By placing people at the heart of strategic decision-making, the CPO strengthens the company's ability to attract, engage, and retain top talent, drive innovation, manage employee benefit programmes and cultivate a positive workplace culture. SUMMARY OF CORE RESPONSIBILITIES - Design and implement people strategies that drive organisational growth, employee satisfaction (People Plan and People Promise), and alignment with business goals and strategies.
- Anticipate workforce trends, develop initiatives to enhance talent retention, and foster a culture that prioritizes employee well-being.
- Lead the Human Resources team and collaborate with executive leadership to ensure that human capital strategies remain adaptable to market changes and industry demands.
- Drive and facilitate the strategic planning process to develop the corporate/organisational strategic plan.
- Collaborate with other key internal stakeholders to create opportunities for attracting high performing talent in the related fields.
- Recruit and retain the best talent as a critical cornerstone of the business’s continuity, growth, and competitiveness.
- Identify competency-based development initiatives and technical training for leaders and employees.
- Focus on knowledge management and learning technologies via curriculum design, coaching, mentoring, change management, performance improvement etc.
- Drive employee engagement and play a pivotal role in cultivating a workplace culture that reflects the organisation’s values and mission.
- Responsible for driving an HR business partner model that delivers expertise that supports the achievement of the organisational goals and objectives.
- The CPO must also manage the operations of the Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), including the tracking and analysis of key performance indicators that are critical to managing the workforce within the organisation.
- Responsible for the development, management, and reporting of the HR budget.
- Responsible for creating and evaluating compensation and benefits packages that meet industry standards and employee needs to attract and maintain talent. This includes salary structures, performance-based incentives, wellness offerings, and retirement plans, as well as non-financial benefits.
- Function as a mediator and advisor for workplace disputes, grievances, and issues related to fairness and equity.
- Encourage collaborative problem solving and build trust within the organisation, creating a safe, positive, and productive workplace culture.
REQUIREMENTS - A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organisational Psychology/Organisational Development or a related field.
- A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in HR or a related field with a minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in a senior HR role.
OR - A Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organisational Psychology/Organisational Development and five (5) years’ experience in a related field would be an asset.
- Membership in the Society for Human Resource Management or other Recognized HR Certification would be an asset.
- Experience leading at a strategic level is required; must have demonstrated experience developing a strategic vision for Human Resources and people management.
- Demonstrated experience in creating and maintaining a positive culture, characterised by transparency, collaboration, creativity, and credibility.
- Demonstrated experience in managing conflict resolution and negotiation, particularly in an industrial relations climate.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing people and teams.
- Excellent leadership and decision-making skills.
- Analytical and strategic thinking.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong ability to motivate employees and colleagues.
