Position Title: Chief Group Accountant

 

Job Summary:

The Chief Group Accountant is responsible for overseeing the financial reporting, accounting practices, and compliance for the entire organization or group of companies. This role involves managing accounting teams, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and developing strategies to enhance financial performance across the group.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the entire accounting function for the group, including financial reporting, ledger maintenance, and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Prepare and analyze consolidated financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and enforce accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate and efficient financial operations.
  • Coordinate the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and ensuring all audit requirements are met.
  • Manage the budgeting and forecasting process, providing financial insights and recommendations to the executive team.
  • Monitor compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as international reporting requirements (if applicable).
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence and professional development.
  • Conduct financial analysis and risk assessments to identify improvement opportunities and ensure optimal resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support organizational goals and enhance financial performance.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, accounting standards, and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and best practices.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Extensive (minimum 8 years) experience in accounting and financial management, ideally in a leadership role within a multi-entity organization.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in accounting software and financial reporting tools.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strategic thinking with a focus on driving financial performance.

 

Working Conditions: 

Office-based role, with typical working hours; may require occasional overtime during peak periods (e.g., month-end closing, audit season).

 

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

1. Accuracy of Financial Reporting: Measure the percentage of financial reports that are error-free and submitted on time.

2. Timeliness of Reporting: Track the percentage of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports delivered to stakeholders by established deadlines.

3. Budget Variance Analysis: Assess the accuracy of budget forecasts by monitoring variances between projected and actual financial performance.

4. Audit Compliance Rate: Evaluate the number of findings or issues identified during audits and effectiveness in addressing them.

5. Cost Savings Initiatives: Monitor the success of cost-saving measures implemented across the group, measuring financial impact.

6. Employee Turnover Rate in the Accounting Department: Assess turnover rates within the accounting team as an indicator of team satisfaction and leadership effectiveness.

7. Compliance with Accounting Standards: Measure adherence to relevant accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS) and regulatory compliance.

8. Development of Financial Policies: Track the number of financial policies and procedures developed or revised annually to enhance financial governance.
