GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/ROLE SUMMARY

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for the development and management of the company’s strategic plan, to oversee the company’s operations, to prioritise revenue generation and maximise operational efficiency.

SUMMARY OF CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, organise, and direct the affairs of the Company in line with the overarching policy of the Board of Directors.
  • Oversee the operations of the Company inclusive of the Commercial, Renewable Energy and Technical services.
  • Recommend to the Board high-quality investing solutions to advance the business and maintain profitability.
  • Align corporate activities and functionality that support the national interest through the policies of the Government of Barbados in line with parent Ministry directives.
  • Monitor and identify external global, regional, and local trends and issues with potential impact on the business.
  • Plan in consultation with the senior management, the vision, mission, strategies, and programmes of the Company.
  • Ensure that the creation of and implementation of strategies are designed to grow the business.
  • Manage effective short to medium term business planning and forecasting in line with the company’s strategic goals in order to achieve targets whilst ensuring long-term profitability.
  • Review and formulate systems and procedures for the effective management of the Company.
  • Build company image by collaborating with customers, community organisations and employees and enforcing ethical business practices
  • Assess the principal risks of the Company and ensure that these risks are monitored and managed.
  • Ensure that management processes employ best practices and instigate change as required to achieve maximum corporate efficiency and sustained improvements in quality, safety, service and operating costs, thereby matching continual increases in customer expectations and securing adequate returns on investment.
  • Lead the business planning process and ensure timely implementation of the annual business plan through operational systems and procedures.
  • Provide reliable executive oversight to ensure that the financial controls and reporting practices within the organisation meet legal requirements and international standards of professional management of the business.
  • Manage overall capital plans for the business to ensure that appropriate resources are fully utilised to maximize business profitability returns.
  • Keep abreast of macro government policies to adapt corporate strategies, as required.
  • Ensure decisions of the Board of Directors are communicated to all levels of the organisation and oversee implementation.
  • Represent the Company and promote its activities domestically and internationally.
  • Maintain stakeholder relationships across the industry and related sectors.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A Degree in Business/Public Administration or a degree in Petroleum or Chemical Engineering or Renewable Energy.
  • A Master's degree in Business Administration, organisational or a related field would be an asset.
  • At least ten (10) years’ experience at the level of senior management.
  • Excellent leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Strong ability at building high performance teams.
  • Strong ability to motivate employees and colleagues.
  • Excellent strategic and development skills.
  • Strong business acumen, with analytical and critical thinking skills, and ability to understand how business model decisions impact operating model design/execution across operations, risk governance and organisational design.
  • Experience in Renewable Energy strategies and development.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Professional or specialized training in Financial Management
