The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) is seeking to fill the position of Chief Executive Officer. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Chairman, Board of Directors.

FUNCTION

The Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling all aspects of the operation of the Barbados Water Authority with the powers delegated by the Authority’s Board of Directors.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that the mandate of the Barbados Water Authority for the provision of potable water and waste water services is carried out in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Direct, motivate and develop the skills of the executive and managerial personnel to foster productivity, growth, high morale and enhanced customer service.
  • Co-ordinate activities of the respective divisions and departments by developing processes and effective lines of communication.
  • Provide for planning, administrative and financial controls such as monitoring, reporting processes, audits and inspections.
  • Maintain awareness of internal and external developments affecting objectives and policies.
  • Coordinating regular meetings with senior management in taking remedial actions or needed adjustments.
  • Implement approved policies and programmes and setting standards.
  • Represent the Authority at conventions, seminars, international conferences and other official occasions, promoting good public relations.
  • Advise the Board of Directors on the establishment of major departments and key executive positions and mobilization and allocation of funds to implement departmental policies and programs.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports to the Board of Directors regarding all aspects of the operations of the Authority.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED  

  • Post Graduate qualification in Business Administration, Management or a related field from a recognized university
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience at executive level in a similar public and/or private sector setting

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills.
  • Full working knowledge of Public Sector/Statutory Authority’s Management System
  • Excellent knowledge of business and financial management
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
  • Excellent knowledge of leading change in a dynamic environment
