Chief Business Development Officer (Banking Sector)

 

Overview: Our client is one of the longest established financial institutions in Barbados with an ever-growing customer base. Due to their commitment to offer customers the range of services to meet the demands of today and the future, they are seeking to appoint a senior executive to work at Board level and be instrumental in creating a business model that ensures customer satisfaction and increase/retain their client base. 

 

The Chief Business Development Officer's (CBDO) role is to identify the underperforming  products and services, develop an in-depth knowledge of offerings, pricing, and policies, and improve existing savings and loan portfolios. The CBDO will work closely with the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) to set revenue targets and provide an organisation-wide marketing strategy to achieve agreed targets. The successful applicant oversees and is accountable for all activities of the business development and marketing division, providing overall leadership and guidance to the reporting departments.

 

This role requires strategic thinking to develop new partnerships, identify potential members and create marketing campaigns. Also focuses on the development and growth of the business through building relationships across industries, identifying opportunities, and completing business deals. The CBDO is expected to have strong business acumen and demonstrate excellent management, communication, and analytical skills.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and execute business development plans to identify and secure new business opportunities that align with the company strategic objectives.

 

  • Create marketing campaigns to promote new products or services to current and potential members.

 

  • Collaborate with the Group Chief Executive Officer/Group Chief Finance & Risk Officer to determine the most viable, cost-effective approach to pursue new business opportunities.

 

  • Lead the gathering of relevant statistical information across the business, conducting analyses, and the drafting of reports regarding the overall performance of activities undertaken by the business development team.

 

  • Set departmental goals and objectives and align same to the company overall strategic objectives.

 

  • Provide oversight management of the loans, collections and Call Centre, and E-services operations.

 

  • Report regularly to the executive management on progress against business development goals.

 

 

 

  • Lead the business development and marketing division and directly supervise the Marketing Manager, Loans Manager, Manager of Payments, E-Services and Call Centre and Collections Manager. 

 

Desired Skills/Qualifications

 

  • MBA or other advanced degree in marketing.

 

  • At least five (5) years’ management experience, preferably in a financial institution

 

  • Demonstrated success developing and launching new products or services.

 

  • Have a sound knowledge of sales of financial services.

 

  • Have a sound knowledge of existing and emerging electronic and payment services.

 

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills.

 

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

 

  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to develop and interpret complex data.
