The Cashier facilitates the sale of goods by totaling bills, receiving money, making changes, and giving receipts. The incumbent maintains and adheres to all cash control policies and ensures that the Company’s funds are correct and handled with care and diligence.
Job Description:
- Greet customers, using scripted greetings and ascertain what each customer wants and/or needs, and assist accordingly.
- Maintain the highest level of customer service at all times.
- Adhere to the Company’s cash control policies at all times.
- Receive payments by cash, cheques, credit cards, debit cards etc. and issue bills, receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.
- Vault (place in safe) cash no less that twice throughout the day to avoid having excess cash on hand, and in accordance with the Company’s policies.
- Secure all cash and documents and are deposited at the end of the day.
- Ensure all end of day procedures are completed and given to the Manager.
- Liaise with the Hire Purchase Department concerning the closing of accounts, account balances etc.
- Ensure that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, which includes greeting and acknowledging customers and all other aspects of customer service.
- Maintain showroom float and ensure that it is secure and balances daily.
- Maintain a clean and orderly cashier’s enclosure.
- Ensure the cashier’s enclosure is properly always secured with limited access being granted.
- Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements and ensure that it is applied correctly to all invoices/transactions.
- Perform all duties in conformance with appropriate health, safety, security and environmental and SDL’s policies and procedures.
- Comply with Group’s processes and policies as set out and stated in ANSA McAL Blue Book.
- Perform other related duties as may be required by Management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Five (5) GCE/CXC Ordinary level passes including Mathematics and English Language.
- A minimum of one (1) years’ experience in a similar capacity, preferably in the retail environment.
- Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
