JOB SUMMARY:

The Cashier will be responsible for performing sales, and cashiering duties.  The Cashier is expected to manage all transactions with customers accurately and efficiently. Cashier responsibilities include receiving payments and issuing receipts, keeping track of all cash and credit transactions.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process daily monetary transactions from customers including cash, credit and debit cards payments in accordance with established procedures.
  • Reconcile transactions on a daily basis.
  • Provides a positive customer experience with fair, friendly, and courteous service.
  • Operate point-of-sale cash register, credit card, and copier equipment, and makes minor adjustments
  • Process staff orders received via telephone or email; prepares invoices and bill according to established procedure.
  • Assist in stocking and removing damaged and expired goods from shelves as required
  • Maintains organized files/records
  • Verify staff (including security) via  ID and administer accurate discounts
  • Enhance sales by utilizing  cross-selling and up-selling strategies
  • Resolve customer complaints, guide them and provide relevant information
  • Maintain clean and tidy checkout areas
  • Track transactions on balance sheets and report any discrepancies
  • Assist in bagging,  boxing of customers’ transactions if circumstances allow
  • Assist with the merchandising activities when not attending to cashier duties inclusive of managing merchandise returns and exchanges

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Five (5) CXC General Subjects inclusive of Mathematics or Accounts and English Language.
  • Minimum three (3) years working experience in a similar capacity.
  • Must be fluent with Microsoft applications
  • Familiarity with electronic equipment, like cash register and POS
