Overview: Our client is one of the most well-established suppliers for energy solutions in Barbados and across the Caribbean. Due to increased workload, they are urgently seeking to employ a competent individual to the accounting team based in Barbados. Due to the urgency of the role, the applicant must be available to commence employment as soon as possible in late January/Early February 2025 for a 3 x month contract, with the possibility of contract extension.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • To execute payments for all regional markets via uploads, drafts, wire transfers and bank letters.  Process Travel Expense refunds for employees when necessary
  • Prepare payment instructions for bank letters, drafts, wires and via CMS uploads for designated markets
  • Enter US dollar payments in online bank platforms
  • Email payment notifications and validation reports to vendors and relevant parties 
  • Perform banking duties daily and ensure all payments are processed in a timely and efficient manner
  •  Update the Accountant folder with all invoices paid along with the relevant approvals etc. Update the Procurement folder on share drive with all paid invoices only.
  • Process employee Travel Expense reports and relevant refunds for assigned markets. Run the employee customer account balances at the end of each month.
  • Maintain a comprehensive filing system for all market payments and audit trails
  • Provide payment information to auditors and explain any areas of concern
  • Run company credit card statements monthly and prepare listing (excel spreadsheet) for the payment of company credit cards.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
  • BSc Finance, Accounting or related disciplines
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a similar environment
  • Good communication skills
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Computer literate and numerate
  • Willingness to work outside of regular working hours.
  • Available to commence employment in January/February 2025
  • A collaborative approach and strong team player
