CEO Job Overview

 

The Grenada Airports Authority (GAA) is seeking a skilled, industry-experienced professional who can quickly garner confidence, respect and trust within the GAA and with all internal and external stakeholders.

 

The Chief Executive Officer shall be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the airports’ operations, including management of their facilities, infrastructure, personnel and finances.  The CEO will ensure that the airports operate efficiently, safely and profitably while providing excellent customer service to passengers and other stakeholders.

  

The successful candidate will demonstrate core competencies in defining and deploying business plans that drive operational growth.  Ideally, he/she will have experience in starting and turning around a major transportation organisation of a similar size.

Candidates to be considered for the role of CEO will possess:

 

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Aviation Management or a related field.

 

  • Candidates should also have 10+ years of successful executive managerial experience and leadership in airport operations, management or related fields in a corporate, SOE or statutory entity.  Demonstrated knowledge and skills in supervisory functions is required.

 

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent project management skills, with a track record of meeting deadlines; strategic agility.
  • Skilled communicator who can present complex written and oral reports clearly and concisely with the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Organisational change and development; proven ability of developing high performing teams.
  • Excellent emotional intelligence and negotiation skills.  
  • Must be a strategic thinker with good commercial acumen and able to identify economic opportunities in a dynamic environment, take calculated risks, and capitalise on them.
  • Ability to problem solve, prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, security, compliance and customer service.

 

CORE RESPONSIBLITIES

 

Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and implement the airports’ strategic plan, which includes setting goals and objectives, identifying key performance indicators, and developing strategies to achieve them
  • Establishing, monitoring, and evaluating aviation priorities, policies, and procedures (reviews and ensures enforcement of local laws and regional and international regulations governing the GAA)

Financial Management

  • Manage the airports’ finances, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, which includes but is not limited to the development and implementation of appropriate accounting and financial policies and procedures with effective segregation of duties and responsibilities

Operations Management

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the airports, including managing staff, ensuring compliance with safety and security regulations, and maintaining the airports’ facilities and infrastructure.
  • Delivering operational excellence across all airport activities to better manage costs and improve service

Business Development      

 

  • Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, such as developing new revenue streams within the facility
  • Leading the development of the airports’ economic planning activities in support and in collaboration with regional business leaders and elected officials to ensure maximum coordinated planning and implementation.

Stakeholder Management

 

  • Building and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with external stakeholders such as airline executives, concessionaires and transportation operators, business leaders, government and local communities while creating a strategy to grow the airports and elevate the brand of GAA.

Human Resource Management & Development

 

  • Manage and supervise a diverse team of employees while ensuring the implementation of an effective system of staff recruitment, orientation, training and development to ensure that the GAA is optimally resourced to meet and exceed stakeholders’ expectations.
