The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising, planning and coordinating the activities and operations of the Accounting Department to ensure accuracy and completeness in the recording of all financial transactions on a timely basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising, planning and coordinating the activities and operations of the Accounting Department to ensure accuracy and completeness in the recording of all financial transactions on a timely basis.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or ACCA equivalent.

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience at senior level.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Monitors the progress of transactions’ postings to the General Ledger to ensure proper cut-off and closure within five working days subsequent to month end.
  • Perform financial due diligence analysis for customers and Vendors.
  • Reviews monthly inventory valuation of crude and finished products and determine appropriate accounting adjustment. 
  • Liaise with Tax Consultants to address issues and file annual corporate tax returns.
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analysis as required for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintains master data for General Ledger, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
  • Reviews relevant monthly and quarterly government reports and accounts to various government ministries like Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Mining & Energy.
  • Prepares special reports for IMF, World Bank, Bank of Jamaica and Government of Jamaica.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements. Analyzes the results against budgets and make suitable and meaningful comments of the overall performance of the Company.
  • Calculates weekly pricing for the marketing and contract customers
  • Facilitates weekly pricing meeting with the Pricing Committee by providing accurate price calculations and updates on US Gulf Prices.
  • Assists the external auditors for annual audits; liaises with external auditors to coordinate the programme for successful completion of the year audits.
  • Assists the Chief Financial Officer in implementing and maintaining effective systems and procedures for safeguarding, recording and controlling all the resources of the Company.
