The Business Support Officer (Level 1) ensures effective cash management by handling incoming cash, maintaining treasury reserves, and remitting excess cash to CBTT. They provide quality customer service and support branch operations.

Job Summary:

The Business Support Officer (Level 1) is responsible for providing quality customer service through the provision of adequate cash management for the branch as well as the entire bank. Acts as a clearing point for all incoming cash from branches and periodic shipment to CBTT and maintenance of the Bank’s Treasury/Reserve Cash. Ensures that the Bank remains within insured limit by remitting all excess cash to CBTT.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages the Treasury cash reserve by providing cash to frontline tellers upon request for servicing customers, receiving cash from frontline tellers when over their approved limit and ensures that all excess cash is placed in Treasury Reserve Cash.
  • Completes analysis of cash holdings, anticipates inflows and outflows to determine if shipments are to be sent to CBTT. Manages the remittance of all excess cash held in the Bank and liaises with the Central Bank of Trinidad & Tobago to ensure timely delivery.
  • Ensures daily reconciliation of general ledger accounts and maintains a proper record of ABM, Night Safe and Treasury Balancing. Ensures all Treasury, ABM and Night safe outages are addressed by the close of the working day. Manages the operations of both ABM’s and Night Safe clearings, ensuring proper procedures during verification and accurate posting to customers’ accounts.  Release ABM holds on customers’ account upon verification. Coordinate and manages annual servicing of ABM’s, Night Safe and combination locks and standing tills.
  • Prepares all external Cash Shipments to and from CBTT and other branches of the bank. Inputs Cash shipment on CBTT website for the crossing of Cash to and from CBTT. Manages the remittance of all excess cash held in the Bank and liaises with the Security Firm to ensure timely delivery to CBTT.
  • Address and follow through on all internal and external outages and complaints with immediate action plans to obtain resolutions within reasonable time frames.
  • Analyses and prepare orders as required and distribute to all branches. Ensures all bulk control stock items are properly stocked and in order. Ensures accurate, verified and compliant Holding of the Branch’s Cash Holdings and all controlled stationery and negotiable items in the Vault jointly with the –Client Support Officer/Teller.
  • Attend to commercial clients. Ensures pay packets are completed upon request by clients.
  • Identifies opportunities to sell and cross-sell the Bank’s products and services to current and prospective customers.
  • Verifies and completes ‘Cash in Transit’ invoices and completes quarterly archiving.
  • Completes special projects as assigned by the Business Operations Manager and provides additional office support to team members.

Qualifications (Education & Certification):

  • Five (5) C.X.C inclusive of Mathematics and English Language and Two (2) GCE ‘A’ Levels.
  • Certificate in Supervisory Management

Experience:

  • Over Five (5) years general banking/sales, Teller and customer service experience in a financial or similar institution (e.g. a Credit Union, Financial House)
  • Minimum of six (6) months experience in Supervisory capacity
  • Excellent knowledge of retail and commercial banking products and services
