Business Analyst
Job Overview
The Business Analyst will be part of a team and lead efforts to produce accurate business process documentation and user stories, negotiate with business partners and clients in providing technical solutions that deliver business outcomes, and coordinate across teams to ensure alignment on requirements and solution needs. The Business Analyst will use agile methodologies to deliver on the needs of clients who have engaged SCHSBM Inc with industry/ applied research projects. The position holder will also work with project teams to extract the necessary information to enable the best outcomes for clients and external stakeholders. Moreover, the Business Analyst will lead the use of various data analytic techniques to assist with applied research projects such as business process modelling, supply chain logistics and optimisation, investigation techniques, gap analysis, change management and benefits analysis and realisation.
Additionally, the Business Analyst will design and implement projects and initiatives to generate streams of income through academic enterprise, research and knowledge exchange. Also, the Business Analyst is expected to use data to suggest ways that organisations can operate more efficiently and lead the development of innovations. They gather and analyse data to develop and investigate potential solutions – including improvements to systems and process – to organisational challenges. As the Business Analyst, you may work in-house on projects for the SCHSBM Inc or as a consultant working with client organisations and external stakeholders and companies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Collects relevant data on the industry and the market and collaborates with other teams to utilise the data to make evidence-based recommendations.
• Leading the charge on industry/ applied research proposals to identify new opportunities.
• Encouraging new and existing clients by creating and improving proposals.
• Assists with meeting annual targets related to revenue generated from consultant services and/or applied research projects.
• Develops a business development strategy with a focus on profitability, cost awareness and business competitiveness.
• Uses data modelling, optimisation and other statistical techniques to identify ways in which an organisation can operate more effectively.
• Leads the creation and development of digital solutions with the use of Big Data.
• Analyses data models to deliver logical conclusions and insights to the clients and internal and external stakeholders.
• Develops and implements AI and other innovative solutions for operational and strategic changes in the School through analysing and optimising the operations and systems of the School.
• Utilises AI, advanced analytics tools and techniques to extract actionable insights from complex datasets.
• Communicates with senior people in organisations to find out what they hope to achieve.
• Formulates ways for businesses to improve, based on previous research.
• Persuades internal and external stakeholders of the benefits of new technology or strategies.
• Build the necessary infrastructure to integrate data practices in the School.
• Creates and sustains an enabling data-focused ecosystem with conditions to encourage a culture of data-driven understanding and decision making, innovations for data management applications and value creation.
• Engages the SCHSBM’s leadership team in support of data initiatives at the enterprise level.
• Leads innovation and change activities by fully leveraging the data asset of the organisation.
• Partners with business users to identify areas of process improvements and recommends solutions through automation.
• Creates detailed business requirements by partnering with the business and translates the requirement into functional specifications.
• Defines project requirements by identifying project milestones, tracking progress, resolving problems, communicating progress, and recommending actions.
• Oversees the implementation of new technology and systems.
• Runs workshops and training sessions.
• Explores how the organisation is currently operating via research, which could include interviewing employees and collecting quantitative data.
• Explores different solutions, their risks, benefits and impacts for external organisations.
• Proposes solutions to an organisation’s leaders, and keeps them updated with progress.
• Ensures the changes are made – for example, by overseeing the implementation of new technology or a new approach
• Contributes to training and support for people affected by new systems and processes.
• Maintains effective collaboration with other University departments and external agencies.
• Ensures that the new business strategies are executed properly and are clearly understood by all the involved teams.
• Provides data-driven insights to improve decision-making capabilities for the organisation.
• Extracts and documents requirements through user stories, use cases, process flow diagrams, etc.
• Checks that complex requirements are executable, testable, complete, and not ambiguous.
• Leads the implementation of the identified solutions, by performing system testing, providing end-user training, documentation, and support as needed.

Experience
• At least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
• Experience with Agile methodology.
• Experience of developing new business opportunities through enterprise, commercial and/or knowledge exchanges.
• Experience in building sustainable relationships with external groups, clients and companies and the ability to up-sell opportunities.
• Experience on a variety of simple to complex projects.
• Handling Big Data, Segmentation, Analytics, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics and Hypothesis Testing
Qualifications
• Master’s degree in computer science, management information systems, business analytics, data science, or equivalent work experience.
• Business Analytics certificates are desired.
