Blending Operator

SUMMARY

 

The Blending Operator is responsible for setting equipment, machines, and tanks to blend raw materials
in accordance with formulation whilst adhering to quality specifications, sanitizing requirements, and food
safety standards.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Confirm the measurement of ingredients and/or products for the blending process issued by inventory
    personnel.
  • Examine materials, ingredients, and/or products to ensure conformance to established standards.
  • Operate machines to blend/mix ingredients.
  • Conduct in-process analysis as needed.
  • Ensure samples are submitted to the lab for analysis according to the sampling plan.
  • Ensure health and safety protocols, as well as GMP standards, are adhered to.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures for blending and sanitization operations.
  • Document and record operational and production data on specified forms.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, hoses, vessels, etc. used for the blending process.
  • Monitor the blending operations and equipment to ensure the safety and efficiency of the production.
  • Responsible for setting up and executing liquid transfers in accordance with the blending schedule.
  • Perform cleaning and sanitation duties needed for the blending operation.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained.
  • Assist in monitoring quality standards of products.
  • Provide internal relief for other team members.
  • Maintain adequate documentation of the day-to-day blending operations.
  • Assist in identifying and recommending solutions to overcome issues arising to meet production
    requirements and address operational risks.
  • Keep up to date on and investigate the latest technologies, analysis, and methods relevant to the
    department for enhancement initiatives.
  • Apply Manufacturing Excellence tools and techniques such as RCPS, 5S, SPC, and any new
    techniques that emerge to drive site performance towards world-class performance.

 

Education and Experience

 

  • Minimum Secondary Level Education.
  • Must have a manufacturing background
  • Minimum two (2) years’ relevant industry
  • Knowledge of the ISO 9002 QMS Standard, HACCP, and ISO22000 will be an asset.
  • Knowledge of alcoholic beverage manufacturing.
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of quality systems, standards and process improvement techniques
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards and compliance
  • Experience in delivering results in a team environment
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques will be an asset
